Fiona was visibly shaken by the news that she had received, and Jack was observing her behavior as he held her by her shoulders and led her to the sofa which was in the lounge. He looked around and found a towel, and wrapped it around her shoulder.
"Did he say anything as he was dying?", she asked. After a long time, that was the first question she asked Jack as he was still looking around the house to find anything useful. He heard the question and decided to answer her.
"They got me. Those were your father's last words. Do you know of any enemies that your father might have had?", asked Jack as that was his first question. Fiona nodded her head sideways, indicating that she had no idea about any enemies.
"The only thing I knew was that he worked for some politician after retiring from the MMA. He used to tell me that he had meetings and even took me to one or two of them. They were all political meetings", she paused.
Jack was taking note of all the things she was telling him, and the point taht he had taken her out to political meetings was something he couldn't add up. He places his next question which popped into his head.
"Ms. Fiona, you're a beautiful lady. I am sure someone would have expressed their interest in you. Someone around their mid-thirties, maybe?", he said as he spun the pen in his fingers. Fiona had a shocked expression.
"But how did you know that?", she asked in shock. Jack had his suspicions, and the statement from her confirmed his suspicions. He didn't want to give it away, and he pointed toward the cards that were left near the door.
"Those cards seemed like they had come from someone, but the way it has been left unopened suggested that you were not interested. But among them, a few of them were opened and placed back in. Thus, I made that guess", he said.
Fiona made her mouth into the shape of an 'o', indicating that she was impressed. She pulled the towel around her slightly tighter, and a shiver passed through her body. Jack was sure about what he saw, and he thought the reactions were from the shock of losing her father.
"I do remember something now that you mention something. Ever since about a week ago, Dad had begun to process some documents, mainly related to our property. I even signed some of them, and I think I have them in my room", she said as she got up and came back with a bunch of papers from her room.
She placed them in front of him, and Jack began to look into them. The more he looked into it, the more the look of shock was written on his face. After he finished reading through them, a sweat broke from his forehead.
"Were there any threat calls? Anything that indicated a threat letter? Something?", he asked and Fiona nodded once more and was found innocent. There was instinct telling him to run towards the City Office of Registrations, and he immediately left his card on the table.
"Ms. Fiona, I would love you to give me a call at this number in ten minutes. And come to the place that I tell you to. And please do dress up", he said as he ran out the door. He reached the crime scene and looked around.
He found Steven who he was looking for, and the both of them began to drive their car towards the City Office Of Registrations, and the look on Jack's face said it all for Steven. The last time he saw this look, was a long time ago. A case that was memorable to both of them, and the case that made Chief Holmes who he was today.
Right at the tenth minute, Jack's cell began to ring, and he pulled it out and placed it on his ear. "City Office Of Registrations. Come over there", he said and cut the line. He was running red lights, and the siren was turned on this time.
Right after he reached the place he didn't turn the engine off and slammed the door shut. Running the stairs, he reached the reception desk. He didn't care about any formalities at that moment, and he left Steven to finish them up.
"Steven, he is here. I am sure of this. Our next target is the person who did the transfer of the lands", he said and ran to the board which was near the reception.
"Harvey Ross", he began to search the name. Right after he noticed the name and the room number, which was 417, he quickly took off from there. Steven, on the other hand, was left to deal with all the procedures.
Jack looked at the lift as he ran past it, and saw someone get inside it. They were the same height as the one that had bumped into Henry back there, and he pulled out his gun and shot at the door right as it closed.
The lift began to move up, and Jack began to run up the stairs, his gun in his hands. Right after his shot, there was chaos everywhere and people began to run around everywhere. The chaos made it harder for him to run up the stairs, making him crash into a lot of people as he bumped shoulders into them, slowing him down.
Right on the third floor, he bumped into someone and tumbled down the stairs to a landing, and he quickly began to run again. Right after he reached the fourth floor, he had his aim, but the man in the lift held a fat man in his arms with a knife around his neck.
"Let him go!", said Jack as he was panting and holding the gun level to his head. Harvey was sweating hard, and he looked between both Jack and the man that was holding him. He bit the hand that was around his neck, and the man let go of his knife.
"Long Live The Sin Claire!", he said as he pulled out a small revolver from his coat and put it to his head, pulling the trigger.
The wall next to him was splattered with blood and meat, and the killer used this commotion and got away from the place. Jack quickly began to give chase and saw him disappear into the darkness, and there was a sheet of paper for him.
"Good Luck catching me next time!", it read with a kissing emoji as a sign.
