Chapter 124 - Other cousins

Walking down the streets, Caelum and Moon were heading towards the park where he just wanted to accompany Moon since he was planning on visiting his other Aunt whose husband was the brother of his father. He never met his uncle since he died a long time ago and rarely saw him. They hadn't visited them since their place is on the other side of the town and hadn't gotten the time to visit, not to mention they just arrived in Krendon for a few weeks.  

"So you're a college student?"

Caelum tried to stop the awkward silence as they walked towards their destination. He was looking at the young woman who wore a hoodie and glasses putting her hands in her pocket while she strolled. 

"Yeah, the martial art instructor is just a side gig. That's why I'm only available on Saturday. How about you?"

"I'm in my last year in highschool since I had to drop out in my senior year a few years back."

He responded. 

"Really? Must have been rough for someone tough like you."

"Maybe, but that's all in the past. Dwelling too much would just ruin the future." 

"Wise words. Oh we're here."

After a while the two spotted two girls who had similar hairstyles with one more wild and more reddish pink while the other was amber. 

"Hope you two didn't wait for too long. I just got out of the gym training this guy."

Moon bluntly pointed Caelum behind her while the two were looking at him. Caelum could see that the two already had someone. 

"Sup, I'm Caelum Mercer."

"I'm Shina. It's nice to meet you, Mr. Mercer."

The reddish pink haired girl said, giving a welcoming smile. 

"Just Caelum. I feel old when I'm just 22."

Caelum said, scratching the back of his head. He is physically forever 22 but his actual age differs since mentally he is around one billion years old from diluting time when he's cultivating while aging his bones around a million years old. He was constantly aging his body to grow stronger every passing moment. Though, Age is irrelevant when he's ageless and nearly unkillables. 

"I'm Lily. It's nice to meet you." 

"Likewise. Well, I won't take your time since I have places to go. See you on saturday, Moon." 

He began to walk away leaving them be and walk his way to the train station calling his mom and aunt that he might not be able to head back home.

"Where are you going?"

"I plan on visiting Aunt Klara and see how they are doing."

"What!? You should have told us!"

Caelum heard his mother scream, scolding him for not inviting the two making him warily smiled.

"Yeah, sorry about that. But I was just planning on visiting an old place before visiting them. That's why I didn't ask you to come. Also, travelling might be bad for you."

"Fine, but next time tell us."

"Sure. Well take care mom. I might be back by tomorrow."

"Have a safe travel, son." 

Caelum nodded as he turned off his phone, taking a half an hour to arrive at his destination walking his way to feel nostalgic heading somewhere that held a special place in his past. He arrived at a place that used to be a park that was close to the shore where the sound of waves could be heard. 

'Perhaps with my luck I can find her.'

He thought of arriving at a place where a childhood friend that had long forgotten that only resurfaced the moment his Sea of Consciousness was formed. It was a young girl named Emmy who he had met when he lived around part of this city. 

'I feel like cringing at myself for this drama…'

Caelum sat at the stone staircase leading towards the shoreline looking at the waves crashing down as memories of his time with that girl began to play into his memories.

He recalled how he met here and how the two of them eventually became fast friends. She was smart and cheerful despite having lost the only family she ever knew.

Caelum, at a young age tried his best to help her by creating many wonderful memories until the day he had to leave the town for sometime since his parents were planning on moving out and someone like him can't just abandon his family. 

In the end they shed a tear and promise to meet each other in the future. However, the moment he returned and tried to visit her in her old home found that she was not there anymore and became numb. He had many things he wanted to say but couldn't.

[ Darling, are you alright? ]

'Nothing much, just a thought….I can only hope to find her this time.'

Caelum said standing up walking away heading towards a burger store since he wanted to at least surprise his cousins with a meal. He got inside and the place was packed with people but fortunately the line was not. 

He walked his way to the counter and when he's about to pay for his meal heard a familiar voice.

"Caelum?"

Caelum turned to look up and saw someone nearly unrecognizable taking the time to process the person before him then a click went to his head. 

"Lucian?"

He saw a young man with messy hair that had a bluish gradient upward. The person was his cousin who was supposed to be fat but now he looks quite fit, about the same as when Caelum got all of his power.

"My god, you changed a lot the last time I saw you!"

He said to his cousin who smirked.

"I could say the same thing. So how come you're here? I thought Aunt Celine was sick."

"Well, long story short, she's fine now and we're living with Aunt Nancy."

"Oh wow. Alright let's talk once my shift is done."

"Right, let me have a…"

Caelum ordered his meal before waiting for his cousins to finish his shift. 2 hours later when the sun began to set and people were slowly dwindling spotted his cousins talking to a short white bob cut haired woman. She noticed him staring since he was inspecting and found how she reeked of blood. It is easily more thick than Moon but didn't say anything. 

"Hey dude come here. Let me introduce you to my boss."

He nodded, walking towards them while snacking on a burger. The woman seemed to smile from his action.

"Enjoying our burger?"

"Yeah, it's fantastic. Though I'd prefer a bit of sweet mayonnaise but that's just my preference."

"Oh great idea. I might add it to our menu then. Our establishment always aims for the best."

Caelum nodded in response.

"Boss, this is my cousin, Caelum. Caelum, this is my boss, miss Jess."

His cousin introduce himself reaching out his hand for a handshake which she took with a smile.

"You're cousin, you say? Also, sorry if I had to ask for you to take your shift on Saturday."

"No need, I have nothing to do today anyway."

"Well, I won't take any more of your time. I'll go ahead and close the shop. You can go home with your cousin."

"Alright boss."

The two left, taking home quite a handful of foods heading their way home. Caelum talked about how their life had been after 4 years. His cousin was taken aback from the news of how his cousins were doing. 

"Seriously? Wow, here I thought I had to work hard."

"Well I got lucky and have a buttload of money that I don't know what to spent it on."

"I guess I can relate since if I have your money then I'll be at lost."

"That aside, you got fit."

"Yeah, our time at highschool gave me a lot to think about. Remember Aine and her group who used to boss us around." 

Caelum about it and recalled the time where they had to encounter a lot in their time in highschool. Though, he merely became an errand boy until dropping out and moving to another city where he could save his mother.  

"I do, though I don't hate them for it and holding a grudge against them would be petty."

He said since Caelum's control over his emotion reaches that he is rarely clouded by his emotion. Not to mention, now that his memory resurface comes to realize something felt that there is more to it than meets the eye. 

Aine was the most beautiful woman in their campus and had many people try to court her even Caelum but failed and ended up embarrassing himself. The most unusual thing is that he met Aine after finding out Emmy was gone and spent a few days getting to know each other that fueled his heart in pursuing her. 

'If I ever meet her again then I'll ask why. But it's best that I should focus on the present and with my luck they'll be the one coming to me.'

"Right. Well, I started learning some martial arts and have been exercising daily."

"Keep it up. And you might end up with these guns."

Caelum rolled his sleeves then flexed his muscle making his cousin laugh, hitting him lightly.

"My muscles aren't that bad and I don't plan on getting a bodybuilder bod."

The two laughed it off and continued chatting until the bus stopped and started walking their way to his cousin's home. They head inside with his cousins knocking on a nearby door. 

"Sky, someone here wants to see you!"

He shouted waiting for the door to open revealing a young girl around Liliena age having bluish short hair. She was excited to see his cousins then paused when spotting Caelum who was smiling and waving his hand. 

"Brother Caelum is that you!?"

The young girl exclaimed quickly and went for a hug making him warmly smile patting her head.

"Of course it's me. How've you been, Sky?"

This was his other cousin, Sky and Lucian's little sister. Caelum raises his eyebrow noticing something then glances at his cousins.

'Here I thought I'm the only one huh?'

Caelum thought since he can see the essence of his cousins inside the young girl. He didn't judge them since he's also had a relationship with his sister and might help him by making pills to avoid inbred defects. Caelum obviously doesn't need it since his physiology nullifies the mutation therefore can have intercourse even with his daughter in the future. He dislikes how the [ Harem Parameter ] includes them.

After a few minutes, the three of them head to the dinner table putting their food on the table. Sky immediately went to grabbed a burger while Caelum chuckled at how she was eating.

"So how have you two been? Where's Aunt Klara?"

He noticed how there weren't any presents other than the two of them in the houses. 

"Oh, she's been on a business trip for more than a year now."

"Is that so? Well anyway, Lucian, do you have a girlfriend?"

Caelum glanced at Sky who reacted while Lucian spat his drink from the sudden question. 

"N-No, I don't. I'm too busy with work. How about you?"

"Really? I won't be surprised seeing a healthy boy like you suddenly attack someone."

He was teasing the two making them blush, hiding their best to hide it. Caelum wouldn't have noticed before but seeing he's essentially an expert easily sees through them. 

"What the hell are you talking about?"

"Someone's guilty?"

Caelum just can't help himself seeing them react. He can't easily tease his sister anymore but this is just the perfect opportunity.

"I-I mean the way you made it sound like I'll do something inappropriate when me and sky the only one here."

"That's oddly specific, don't you think? Wait, don't tell…"

The two seem to flinch, afraid that they were easily seen through, especially by their cousins who just randomly visited them. 

"N-No, it's not what you think, Brother Caelum! We can explain."

"....Good lord you two are just…"
