Chapter 10 : Passion in the Night

“Kiss me,” he breathed again, the words sending a ripple of gooseflesh over my arms.

I hesitated, suddenly wrecked by nerves. I’d never even kissed anyone before. I hadn’t even thought about it, to be honest. I’d been so wrapped up in my studies, so wholly devoted to a future that had always seemed so incredibly out of reach that I’d sacrificed everything else in my life in order to reach my goals. Xander had experience. He knew how to do these things. He had done some of them, in fact, not even an hour ago with Jen.

I almost pulled away just thinking about him kissing her, but now Xander was standing only inches from me, his voice fueling the embers of desire that he’d awoken only a week before, when he put himself between me and Slate.

“I don’t know how,” I whispered, bowing my head.

He caught me by the chin, lifting my face to meet his gaze again. I was on the edge of taking a step away from the me I’d always been… and on the other side of that edge?
