Chapter 24: Super Manager

Elysia, Himeko, and Kevin are going to start boot camp with me. I need to make them stronger, maybe I should do a diet plan for optimal nutrition. They can't shove food down their throats like me after all. Humans can theoretically digest 8000 calories in a sitting, I need to pump calories in them.

They'll burn approximately 3 thousand, and more if I train them personally too. Hm, I'll make a steady 4 thousand calorie meal plan then just for the extra margin of error. Should I cook it too? I'm not a chef but I cooked for myself for several years. Yeah, they'll appreciate that.

Now that I think about it, with my enhanced senses won't that little rat Remy be my bitch at cooking? Hm, I'll have to test it a bit with Mei first, she won't mind I think.

I then got to the kitchen and asked permission to make something. They were surprised as I'm a researcher, although a junior one, wants to cook something. If you ask me I wouldn't have thunk that scientists will cook too. It's like 5 in the morning as well.

Okay, what should I cook? Maybe a full english for breakfast today so they'll be nice and energetic. Curry for lunch so they'll pack on carbs for post workout and a south east asian congee so it'll be meaty and flavorful. I hate bland things after all.

As he cooked and packed it up for their morning warmups before training he went to Mei's room first. "Mei! Come out here and eat some grub before you starve to death, reading all those sciency things!" He knocked vigorously on her door.

Mei opened it with bags under her eyes. "It's morning already? I didn't even notice the time." Ein went in and displayed a full english breakfast in front of Mei, still steaming hot. Perks of an inventory.

She saw the feast and her stomach rumbled as the smell hit her, the irresistible smell of butter, bacon and sausages tickled her nostrils. She gulped and salivated as she stared at it.

Ein laughed "You dork, go on and dig in. You've had an all nighter, eat first then rest up. Tell me how it tastes though, I didn't made them all from scratch but I put in some effort on em."

Mei nodded, took a fork and started with the sausages. Her eyes widened as it was mind bogglingly delicious. "Delicious? Why are you so surprised!?" I pouted. "I made that one by myself, there were ingredients in the kitchen available so why not?"

She swallowed first "Well, you never cooked before so I was just surprised. Are you going to make things more often?" Hopeful that he'll cook more.

He pondered for a bit "Hm, maybe? Judging from your reaction it was good, so if I have time I'll probably cook more often. It warms your heart seeing people enjoy your food after all." I smile at her. She finished it quickly and was starting to doze off.

"Go on and rest, don't use coffee as a crutch too. You're going to have a reliance on it." I then left and messaged the others so they can taste it too.

We decided to meet outside where there's a table. Himeko then asked "What's that you have on that bag Ein?"

Elysia: "Ohh, you have a surprise for us? We didn't celebrate for passing after all."

Kevin: "You didn't have to go out of your way Ein, though I am curious."

I looked at them one by one and nodded "Yes you will have the privilege of tasting my amazing cooking plebs." He then took out the contents of the bag.

Elysia: "Ooh~ You made us a full english!? That looks good. You spoil us rotten Ein~"

Himeko: "I've never had one before, I'm sure just by the smell it's going to be delicious."

Kevin: "Wow, I didn't know you can cook Ein. Well, let's get to it then."

They ate it scrumptiously. "You guys will be burning a lot for the incoming training. I have to make sure you eat enough so you don't under nourish yourselves. For now I planned 3 meals a day, but when I make a better plan it will be 5. Come to me after training too, I'll give you guys a deep tissue massage so you won't be sore."

They all nodded happily, Kevin was stuffing his face. Himeko ate quickly but more carefully. Elysia was being elegant but fast, that was some dedication.

After they finish I talked to them for a bit before going to train "Guys, remember. You'll be soldiers now, and it isn't easy. I made Mobius let us be in the same squad. I'm not a full on soldier yet, but take everything seriously when we're out on the field. Eyes peeled and ears open, there is no honor on the battlefield." They listened carefully

"It's either you die or you live. When the enemy can't be beaten by only one of you, gang up on it. Use everything you can think of until you win. No one gets left behind. Okay? I won't always be there for you so team up and don't do any funny shit out there. You can get killed very easily."

They nodded and we went to training.

We were tasked to do some physical readiness training, marches, formations, discipline, CBRN readiness. It was tough seeing them inhale some tear gas and I was basically unfazed.

marksmanship and combat basics were easy for them as I've already started them on the basics. I emphasized on marksmanship though as they won't be throwing hands with honkai beasts.

I forced them to eat dinner as they were dead tired. "Come on, I'll massage you guys first. You'll need it, trust me." They didn't complain and I started on Kevin. "This is gonna be a bit uncomfortable."

I then started on his limbs as he frowned a bit. I finished relatively quickly and went to the girls next.

Elysia: "Noo~ you're gonna put your grubby hands on me. It's only fair that I touch you too." She wiggled her eyebrows.

Ein shook his head and sighed "Get on the table Elysia, I'll let you touch me all you want later."

Elysia: "Kevin and Himeko heard that! I'll be sure to do that later~"

Kevin: "Good luck on handling Ellie, Ein." He then escaped.

Ein: "Yes, yes. Now let's get on with it so you guys can rest." I quickly massaged Elysia as she fidgeted a bit due to pain.

Ein: "Come on Hime, your turn too."

Himeko squirmed a bit as she looked at me. "Okay, do it quickly though." Her cheeks were a bit red.

Ein: "Elysia, go on and rest. You guys have a long day tomorrow."

Elysia agreed quickly as she's too tired to try and tease Himeko.

As I massaged Himeko she was breathing heavily, subtle but noticeable. "You alright Hime? Rest well after this okay? I have some things to do after this." She calmed down.

Himeko: "Thanks for doing this for us Ein, you spoil us too much you know."

Ein: "Eh it's the least that I can do. You guys followed us here after all, and it's gonna be dangerous in a few weeks so just relax."

I left to go to my room, in my computer I've been designing a bootleg CRISPR Cas-9 so I can cut unnecessary DNA and replace it with another completely or just take it entirely. It's still a prototype and I'm gonna need some tests for this.

I went to Mobius' lab and entered as I have a free pass here. "Mobius, I have a prototype for editing genes. I do think it will have problems for full grown organisms as it would have to be intensive and the test subject might react violently to this."

I gave her the data and she read it for a few minutes. "Hm, you're gonna use an enzyme and an RNA guide to cut the target DNA and replace it. This is brilliant, but I agree that this can't be tested reliably on full grown subjects."

He nodded "We should test it on undeveloped embryos first and small organisms like insects, then if it's successful we can integrate nano technology to make it smoother for larger tests."

Mobius looked at the data for a bit again "Good idea, I honestly overlooked bacterial antiviral defenses as a base prototype. We'll continue with this for the mean time." She gave a face splitting grin.

I shrugged "Do you have the necessary equipment and data for integrating me with honkai energy? Don't worry too much at the margin of error. I'm not fragile I assure you."

Mobius licked her lips "Well you're a unique test subject, I need to be careful of course. But yes, I'm all prepared for our first major experiment." Her excitement was through the roof.

I clapped my hands "Let's get on with it, shall we?"

She lead me to a chair that has mechanical limbs with a serum on it and instructed me to take off my shirt.

Mobius: "Are you ready? This will hurt more than you can imagine."

I nodded "Begin." As the machine rumbled and injected at multiple places on my torso.

Hey guys, thanks for reading he won't have any mutations for now but he will receive a certain power for being injected with basically raw honkai energy. It's not op as hell till later but the effects on his body will be substantial.
