Feeling Betrayed

Archer's POV

I wanted to tell Ella I was going outside for a while since my cousin had been texting me nonstop, and I couldn't believe Kent was still in the coffee shop waiting for me. I heard the hitter-patter of the shower, and I couldn't stop thinking about Ella's face; I shook my head, and I couldn't believe there was one girl in our university who didn't care about my handsome looks.

I am not bragging, but I know my looks and my physique, and I am proud of who I am, but right now, it feels like nothing special about me since my new roommate didn't even bother to take a second look at me before she got inside the shower. And I know I should not feel disappointed, but it seems like I wanted Mariela to like me, which is stupid since I should have known better.

Having any romantic relationship with my roommate will never do me good, and it will only complicate things. And most of all, I can't fall for Ella. We live in two different worlds, and she will never belong in our society, and I couldn't imagine my parents' reactions once they found out I am having a relationship with a girl from the lower class. I know my parents very well. I got out of our room with a heavy heart and walked towards the elevator with lazy steps.

"Archer Lopez!" A girl exclaimed the moment I got inside the elevator, and when I smiled at her, she blushed right away, and her girl companion was also looking at me with the same expression on her friend's face.

"Are you a resident of this building?" Asked the other one, who was wearing a white miniskirt and a red sleeveless top.

"Yeah, I just moved in recently," I said, and they were looking at my face while they were giggling.

"That is great, I am Nancy, and this is my friend Paige." She said

"Hi, I am Archer," I responded as I leaned my back on the glass wall of the elevator.

"You don't need to introduce yourself to us; we know who you are; you can come to our unit at Room number 908 anytime," Nancy replied, and I smiled at them, making them blush even more.

"What is your unit number, Archer, if you don't mind?" Paige asked, and I chuckled.

"You don't want to find out my room, ladies; I have a lioness of a roommate," I said, and I could see the stunned expression on their faces, and I could tell they thought I was living with my girlfriend.

"Well, we don't care if you are living with your girlfriend; you can come to our room anytime," Nancy replied, and just fantastic; I couldn't believe these girls.

"I don't think that would be a great idea," I responded.

"Just in case you will change your mind, we are game, and we love having fun," Paige said while her friend giggled.

"See you around, Archer!" They both said when we got out of the elevator.

"Bye, girls!" I said as I waved my hand at them, and I don't think I will have a peaceful life living here. The students who are residing in this building will recognize me, and I hope they will not disturb me; and I think it is about time I should find myself a girlfriend so that they will stop throwing themselves at me.

"Wow! It seems like you can never run away from your fans, my dear cousin." Kent said, and I didn't expect to see him at the reception area since I thought he was still inside the cafe. I walked him towards his car on the parking lot while I couldn't stop looking up on our floor, thinking maybe Ella had already done taking a bath, and I shook my head as I realized why I kept on thinking about this one simple girl.

"It seems like you have a hell of a roommate, Archer." He said, and I know why he lingered in the vicinity; he wanted to tell me his impression about Ella.

"I couldn't believe she would walk out the moment it registered to her you were her new roommate." My cousin added.

"Yeah, it was disappointing. I am just glad I made Mariela stay," I responded, and I couldn't stop myself from laughing, and Kent laughed with me.

"Well, at least you will not worry about her seducing you; you can have peace while she is staying at your new place." He said after his laughter subsided.

"Yeah, but the problem is Ella can't afford to pay 1/4 of the rent, man, and she wanted to flee tomorrow, and I like her to stay. You know she is different, and I could tell Ella was the one I was looking for, and I want to have her as my roommate." I responded.

"Make Ella stay then." Kent blurted out.

"But how? I don't have any fucking idea how to coax a girl, Kent," I responded.

"You have to use your charm, Archer." He muttered.

"As if my charm will work on her, I can't deny, Mariella is not an ordinary lass like the usual I meet. She is something, but I couldn't deny I am interested in knowing her." I declared, and Kent grinned at me.

"Wow, I couldn't believe for the first time someone caught your interest, Archer." He declared, and I shook my head right away.

"It is not like that, Kent; I just want to help her," I replied.

"Are you sure? I have seen how you look at her, and you can't deny it to me that you are attracted to her." He said as he looked at me in the eyes.

"Okay, I am lying if I tell you I don't like her, and I admit the attraction is so strong, but I know I can't have her as my girlfriend," I responded, and I heavily sighed as I looked at my cousin, who seemed so amused.

"Well, at least for the first time, you felt something like that, and it is a waste if you will not try to experience how it felt to be in a relationship with the girl you truly like." He mumbled

"I want to, but I will not go there, Kent; besides, she is not interested in me, and I could tell she doesn't feel any attraction towards me, unlike those girls I met at the elevator a while ago," I said.

"And it is so funny since this is the first time I wanted someone to like me even if I know I couldn't have her," I added.

"Beware, Archer, I am afraid if you will fall for her." He said, and I laughed.

"It will not happen, Kent; besides, I know this is only a fascination because she is too different from all the women I met, and that is why I wanted to know her more," I responded.

"Okay, but don't tell me in the future. I didn't warn you, and I could tell Mariela will be the one who will turn your world upside down, Archer." He declared, and I laughed at my cousin.

"You better stop talking about silly things, Kent. It will never happen, okay? Now please leave." I said, and I could see the hurt expression on his face.

"That is harsh, Archer. You are always at my place most of the time, and now that you have found a hot roommate, you wanted me to disappear." He responded.

"Speaking about that, I thought you instructed our friends to give the pamphlets to girls who have ordinary beauty; how come my new roommate is so hot and beautiful?" I asked, and Kent shook his head.

"I don't know, but I am glad it was her." My cousin responded, and I wanted to tell him I felt the same way.

"You need to go now, Kent, it is past midnight, and we have class tomorrow," I said.

"Of course, good night, buddy. Good luck to you and your new roomie." He said as he chuckled, and I tapped his shoulder before he drove away from the parking lot.

My cousin has been long gone, but his words lingered on my mind. And I was still standing on the pavement as I looked into my new environment, and I realized this place would be my home for the next two years. And I sighed as I thought of my parents for doing this to me. And I couldn't imagine what it would be like if they would not pay for my tuition fees for the next semester, and I know it would become a disaster.

And then a broad smile appeared on my face when I realized I didn't care if they would stop giving me an allowance, I would turn twenty-one soon, and it means I would be rich again since my grandpa told me before he died I could get my trust fund the moment I will turn twenty-one, and I couldn't wait for that day to come.

And I walked back to my room with one goal, I will do everything to make Ella stay, and I will help her with her problems. All we need to do is wait and endure for another six months, and then I can buy my place, and I will put up my own business. It would be as simple as that, and I ride the elevator smiling from ear to ear.

The moment I got inside my unit, I was shocked to find Ella jumping on her bed, and when I asked her if she was okay, I saw her blush, and I found it interesting since I thought she would never be affected my presence.

I took a bath, and when I got out of the bathroom, I couldn't believe she was in front of her table reading her books, and I couldn't believe this woman; it seemed like she didn't want to rest, and I couldn't help myself from offering her a glass of fresh milk, and I couldn't believe I will be doing something like this. If my cousin finds out, I am sure he will be laughing at me.

I let Ella study her lesson, and I didn't realize I doze off to sleep; when I woke up the following morning, I could smell the aroma of food, and I smiled. I got up immediately, and I could tell Ella had made her bed; and I was impressed that she got up early even if she slept late, and I smiled when I looked at the food on the table. She cooked me breakfast, and then my face fell, and I couldn't stop myself from feeling betrayed when I saw her note on the fridge door.
