Viruses

The island was left abandoned and was uninhabitable for a very long time so it did not leave a name behind in history but it was recognised as a place that should not he visited unless someone wished to die there.

Teams of scientists brought escorts to protect them and wrapped themselves in protective suits but they could not get an opportunity to collect live samples and to study them before they had been surrounded and caught off guard by the stone statues.

Their protective clothing and their escorts were useless against the many strong golems so their clothing ripped apart or a part was cracked enough to let the traces of the virus get to them.

If there were people fast enough to run away then they would not bring along anything that could slow them down or distract them when there were so many stone statues around the island that would suddenly start moving again once they got near them.

If there had been some that had studied the virus then they had kept it to themselves and did not try to remove it from the island like Alyssia did.

If there really was other traces of the virus that had been collected or studied then they may have been used already on another island but there was no news about other islands suffering from the same problem.

Some that considered using it as a weapon would soon be told to stop by others due to there not being a valid method available that could remove the traces of the virus from the hosts and the surroundings.

It was the type of virus that could not be easily contained and controlled unless they could find a way to make a cure or could change it to better control its effects and characteristics.

Alyssia continued to observe the virus through a microscope and then leaned back. "Queen has some viruses similar to this one that have more physical enhancing effects or cause a lot of suffering to those infected like the Ice Oni and Mummy viruses.

This one makes the host die but still moves and attacks like the Ice Oni virus, it makes the host far slower but their endurance is increased a little. Over time.. the body will break down and become more brittle. Hmm.. I should just give it the name Golem virus. I wonder if this was actually a natural virus that has existed in the past or if someone had created it."

She continued to ponder over some things. "This virus may be dangerous but once it has been fully understood along with many others, I will gain a better understanding of how they can change the body or how they can be suppressed, cured or altered."

The Golem virus was the most suitable name for them from those Alyssia had thought of.

There had been some different ideas like Gargoyle, Titan and Statue virus but they did not suit the characteristics of how everyone looked or changed once they were exposed to it.

Gargoyle the more monster like and ugly but those exposed to the virus had not really become ugly or changed a lot in appearance, their appearance was kept the same as if it was preserved within their new rock form.

Titan was more like a giant rock creature but those exposed to the virus had not grown in size and had only developed a thin layer of rock over the surface of their body so it did not suit it either.

Statue was more like it would remain completely still but the virus still had those that had died move around unless it was to preserve themselves from wasting energy or breaking when there was nothing for them to attack nearby.

Alyssia visited some war torn islands one after another that had been hit by chemical gas based weapons or viruses that had been made by Caesar Clown and Queen then started to collect samples before firing the cure above the island to release the cure.

Caesar had many of his weapons sold around the world which caused them to be used during the ongoing wars between different islands.

The damage caused by those wars that used them were enough to cause almost all life on the island to be lost unless there was a cure that had been sold along with the weapons.

Those unwell or weak people that were defeated by such tactics would have to surrender and may even become slaves to those that used those weapons.

Other places that were not interested in buying the cure had caused massacres then sent teams to sweep the lands of the riches before leaving the island as it was.

Queen had the antidotes to his viruses and would hand them over to those that surrendered to Kaido but he would not go out of his way to waste resources on curing everyone or cleaning up the mess he made.

If Queen had to act personally and had to resort to using his viruses then he would not care much how they spread around and even infected his subordinates.

If it was an enemy island that they were tasked with destroying or looting then there may be traces of his virus left behind on those islands.

Those allies islands with Kaido would need to be cured after he had completed his task but there would still be many casualties and dead among those that were infected.

It meant that there were many locations for Alyssia to visit and she had many copies of newspapers that had mentions about different wars that were happening in the past or recently.

Where ever Alyssia travelled, there would be an explosion above an island and the few survivors that had hidden away, had a stronger body or gained a little resistance to them had been able to come out much later to a safe environment but they had a difficult task ahead of them to rebuild and to deal with the dead bodies.

There were some that came to the end of the island and saw the ship that was leaving and rumours started to spread among the survivors about their saviour that came and left leaving them with a chance to rebuild.

Their losses and suffering would only make them stronger and those that did not fall into despair would be able to stand back up again.

It was not until a little later that one island that Alyssia had left had begun to be visited by some members of the White Storm who were relocating on the island that had the Golem virus.

Alyssia continued to travel around the New World as she encountered all kinds of odd diseases, toxins and chemical weapons that had been on them or infected people.

The initial tests were administered in her laboratory on the small creatures she created and they each transformed in different ways before being turned back to normal once they had been completely cured.

Alyssia was able to gain a more accurate understanding of each of them and started to progress further with her research.

There was one island that had been infected with a virus that changed the hormones of a person so much that it changed everyone into a female which caught her attention.
