Chapter 89: The Depressed Protagonist

Miyako Ishida was happily reading a magazine in her saloon. It was a working day so her saloon was mostly empty.

Most of the time only the elderly come to the salon on regular days but she didn't have any reservations for the day.

Well, all of her clients are elderly and good people with calm demeanor except for one.

"MIYAKOOOOOO!!!"

As the door flung open, a powerful roar struck her and jammed her on the wall.

"Wha- Wha- Wha-What?!!" She was stunned until she put down the magazine and saw a boy around her son's age and a gloomy-looking girl. "Oh, it's you again…"

It was Seiya Kanie, another one of her 'wild' regulars. And he was also with another girl.

Seiya was a famous boy with a 'strong' personality.

"Yes, it's me, Seiya the great freaking Kanie~!" And then he made a couple of weird poses.

He is a huge narcissist but not in the wrong way. He is also a playboy as he always brings many cute girls to make them a 'waifu'.

Well, more customers for her so she didn't need to complain.

"And I am here with a friend~! She is Okita Souji. Call her Okita-san."

"H-hello… Nice to meet you…"

Well, at least the girl looked normal… for now.

His girls are weird. The black-haired one asked if Miyako was in his harem, the brown-haired busty girl could pull guns from her ass, the blond-haired ojou-sama who was actually an eroge artist and a dark skin girl could, she swear to god, transform into a cat.

Because of Okita's gloomy expression, Miyako deduced Okita with complexes due to her masculine name based on a legend.

"Welcome Kanie-kun, Okita-san~." Miyako greeted her customers with a smile. She then dragged the gloomy-looking silver-haired girl to a chair and tied the cape around her neck.

Miyako then went to Seiya and whispered, "What's the code?"

"Rank B."

For his 'waifus', they have set a couple of Ranks.

Rank S refers to his current waifu.

Rank A refers to his potential waifu candidates.

Rank B refers to just waifu who he is not sure about.

Seiya then explained what kind of haircut he wanted for Okita and sat down in another chair.

"Got it." Miyako nodded and started washing Okita's hair.

"By the way, I also want a quick cut and I am low on time." Seiya then spoke.

"Well, you have to make a reservation," Miyako answered.

"Nobody does reservation these days…!" Seiya frowned.

"That's only Kanie-kun." Miyako chuckled.

"Then where is your son. I remember seeing a lanky guy around."

"Shoya isn't lanky!" Miyako retorted. No mother likes any insult to her child…! "He must be at his part-time job. He should have arrived but I don't know why he is taking so long…"

Her son was an introverted boy with deep complexes due to his past actions. She wanted her son to be a little outgoing like Seiya but he always hides whenever Seiya comes to the salon due to Seiya's brute and bold personality.

Seiya then jumped from the chair and went towards the door.

"Tell me where he works, I will pick him up. I am already going to buy some accessories." Seiya said.

"Oh, sure." Miyako smiled and happily told the workplace of her son. She would be happy if her son could make a friend.

"Got it." Seiya nodded and went out.

"Ano…" It was then Miyako saw Okita nervously fidgeting with rosy cheeks, "Is-Is he always like this..?"

"Hmmm, I can't say for sure." Miyako spoke, "Did you two just met today?"

"How did you know?"

"Well, let's say I am a woman with a little experience. You will figure him out soon."

---

A boy with average height wearing a school uniform was silently watching the water under the bridge.

If one has to judge his appearance then he will be the man who will live an extremely normal/depressing life.

If he was to jump from this height with low tide water then he would only break his bones. Death won't be easy too.

That's what Shoya Ishida was thinking.

"Thinking about dying?"

It was then he heard something.

"…Wha…!" Shoya didn't know what was being said until he turned around to find a boy sitting on a motorbike.

He was a boy with brown hair around Shoya's age with a 'Cross mark' on his face. Those with 'cross mark' is anyone he hates, they are all irreverent.

"Oh… haha… I was just…watching the water…" Shoya laughed wryly. He should be asking the boy's identity but instead, he answered so awkwardly like an idiot.

"Is that so~?" The brown-haired boy raised his brow.

"…Then I should be going…" Shoya said and was about to walk away when the same person stopped him.

"I am Seiya Kanie, the coolest and handsome boy in this world so don't you dare show me your back!"

Shoya shivered with fear and turned around. Upon taking a closer look and hearing that name, Shoya then realized the brown-haired boy's identity.

He was a rich boy and a narcissist. He is regular in his mother's salon and one of many people who Shoya hates.

Shoya only met him once where Seiya insulted Shoya's lanky look. Seiya also bragged about how good-looking he is compared to Shoya.

"W-what do you want from me…!?" Shoya asked with a shivering tone.

"I want a haircut and Miyako is busy. So hurry up and hop on." Seiya said and gave him a helmet.

Shoya was stunned. Was he really going to ride such an expensive-looking bike that he never hoped to even see?

Anyway, he didn't have a choice so he abided by Seiya's order.

Before going to the salon, Seiya stopped by an accessory store where he purchased a black ribbon for his 'waifu'.

Does Seiya think he is in some kind of anime? Shoya didn't know what was going through Seiya's head and neither had he wanted to know.

They then arrived at the salon where Shoya found his mother and another girl on the barber chair.

Seiya also sat on a chair and 'asked' Shoya to dress his hair.

"I am… not a professional in this…" Shoya tried to warn Seiya as he tied the cape around Seiya's neck.

"It's okay. You are Miyako's son so I am sure you can easily handle it. I will guide you too. Remember you are dealing with Seiya Kanie, the future billionaire and future most powerful person so put your efforts as your life depends on it."

"Hai!" Shoya nodded and started dressing Seiya's hair according to his instructions.

Shoya thought he was done for as his barber skills suck but against his expectations, he didn't make a single mistake. He worked as a real professional!

Miyako and Okita also turned their attention on the boys. They were shocked at how good Seiya was in teaching. His instructions were that of a professional teacher.

Miyako thought that Seiya would be a great man at how many great skills he possessed. Her son would definitely get good influence under Seiya.

Okita now had the firm belief that if there is anyone in the world who would correct her sword skill then it was Seiya. Even she learned some hairdressing tricks by just listening to Seiya.

"…I think it is done," Shoya exclaimed as he looked at Seiya in the mirror. He couldn't believe he had such skill in hairdressing.

"This is fine." Seiya nodded. "Well, you should be thrilled since you got to dress my hair. Think of it as payment."

Shoya was not sure until he saw his mother's assuring gestures.

"I see." Shoya nodded and smiled. In short, Seiya is not going to pay.

"So does the 'cross mark' fell from my face?"

It was then Shoya widened his eyes and the cross mark fell from Seiya's face. It was then he saw Seiya's confidant smile.

How did he know about those 'cross marks'?

Looking again, Seiya's smile was telling Shoya that he understands Shoya.

"Those who hurt innocent people are scums but those who regret those actions and try to atone for their sins are real heroes. Miyako has my contract number so feel free to contact the perfectionist."

Shoya nodded with a slight smile and went home.

"Thanks, Kanie-kun." Miyako thanked Seiya with a smile.

Seiya shrugged his shoulder and started reading a magazine.

---

After waiting for a few more minutes, Seiya heard Miyako.

"Okita-san is done."

There he saw Okita standing with a brand new hairstyle. She now had her hair properly cut, her bangs were labeled and her face was glowing bright with glossy red lips and cheeks.

She looked way better, unlike her previous state.

"Please don't stare at me…!" Okita covered her flushed face.

"How does she look?"

"Cute." She is Saberface she was born cute. But…

"There is one thing missing."

"What is it?"

Seiya didn't say anything.

He went behind Okita and tied her hair with a dark ribbon with pink stripes. He then flicked Okita's hair which soon turned into an ahoge.

"Oh, my god…!!" Miyako was stunned. Just by one hair ribbon and increase of ahoge, Okita turned from a cute girl to a true waifu.

"I know right, she was always a cutie." Seiya smiled.

Okita then tried to pay but Miyako refused. She didn't charge her first customer (Seiya's girlfriends).

Seiya and Okita then came out of the saloon.

"Seiya-san, I don't know how I should repay you for today's kindness." Okita smiled with rosy cheeks. She not only got a new haircut but her confidence was also pumped.

Well, it's called waifu rising but Seiya didn't need to say it out loud.

"Hmm, how about making tomorrow's lunch for me?" Seiya smiled. "Just make sure to rest properly. I won't teach you unless you get yourself better."

"I will." Okita smiled.

Seiya asked if she needed a lift but Okita refused any other favor and left in hurry.

"Well, I should also get going." Seiya whole his helmet and rode his bike away.

Today, he met two new characters.

Honestly, he never dislikes Shoya's character. In fact, he like every character from the show. Shoya was displayed as a real person where he tried to change the better person. Seiya just hope Shoya to meet Shoko soon. He didn't know if they were already in contract with each other.

As for Okita-san, let's just say the last thing Seiya want was a holy grail war from this weird Type-Moon universe.
