“No-one ever accused Jim of traveling light,” Brian teased.
“In the car, boy, before you wake him and the jig is up,” Bear whispered. “Reed, I’ll have someone from the club pack up your stuff and buy some new things for Jim. I’ll send it up with the supplies by chopper. Everything including the clothing should arrive before you do. Good luck, Buddy. I think you’re going to need it.”
As Junior pulled away with Bear and Brian in the sedan, Reed carried a sleeping Jim out of the house and placed him on the front seat of the GL, taking care to secure the belt. He placed a soft kiss on his forehead, then one on his lips. He closed the door, went to the driver’s side, and got in. He secured the child locks and his own belt, put the GL into gear, and took off. 11
