He drove to the house in Mount Holly, almost changing his mind when he saw all the cars parked in the drive and at the curb.
Well, he wasn’t angling for an invitation to stay. He’d just drop off the presents and leave. Maybe he’d go to the movies…
It seldom snowed in Charlotte, especially this early in the season, but now flakes were starting to fall. He didn’t bother hurrying. By the time he got to the door, it had stopped.

His arms were filled, so he used his elbow to ring the bell, and Philip Campbell answered the door.
“Parrish!”
“Hi, Mr. Campbell. I just wanted to give you these presents for the twins.”
“Thank you! That’s so kind of you! Come in. Felicia will want to thank you herself.”
“You’ve got company—”
“The more the merrier. And please, call me Philip. I’m about to be a daddy, and ‘Mr. Campbell’ makes me feel ancient.” Mr. Campbell—Philip—caught his arm and pulled him into the house, almost causing him to lose his hold on the presents.
