Just as I was turning the bacon, my phone did a quick vibrate/ring in my pocket.
“If that’s Pete again, I’m gonna start wondering if you two are more than friends,” Cory said, and judging from his tone, he wasn’t totally joking.
I recognised the text tone. “It’s a message from Em.” I set down the spatula and fished my phone out of my pocket, although I could pretty much guess what she wanted. “Where are you?” I read aloud.
“Does she know about us?”
“No. She was, uh, busy last night when I got home.”
“Here, give me your phone while you keep on cooking.”
I did so, wondering what Cory would say in any reply. I jumped a little when he suddenly appeared by my side and laid a kiss on my cheek. I recovered quickly, turned my head and kissed him on the lips. Almost immediately I heard the camera app on my phone take a photo. “What you doing?”
“Telling, or rather showing Em where you are and what you’re doing.”
