Chapter 53 : Blackout

I parted ways with Alex with the document of ESP in my hand. With a maid leading me towards Charlie's room, my mind wandered to Alex's words earlier. It was good news. If it was the previous me, I would have rejoiced on the spot and agreed without second thinking. Alex gave me some time to think, but I wasn't sure what to consider at this point. 

Wasn't this the thing I wanted all along? Didn't I wish for a place where I could be truly happy? To create that place, education was necessary. Wasn't that why I made a plan to use Mr. Gilbert? I didn't hesitate to use people as my stepping stone, so my future should be important to me. 

So what was this murky feeling inside me? Why did I hesitate?

"We're here, Miss Williams."

The maid called out politely to me. I still wasn't used to this kind of treatment, so I stiffly nodded my head. The maid knocked on the door twice before announcing our presence. "Excuse me, Miss Charlie. The guest is here."
