The corridor of the ground floor was filled with deadly growling voices but in a few seconds, it became dead silent. The scream from the roof had led most of the monsters up the stairs.
The door present in the corridor of the bottom floor opened. And, came out a head peaking outside from it. It was Raiden. He scanned the area around the room in which they had stayed. He found not a single soul outside.
He gave a sign to come outside as he walked out of the room. Takeshi, Makie, and Chido slowly followed behind him.
They all looked at each other and were happy enough that they made it out safely. But, escaping the school was still a bold task ahead of them.
Raiden started waking in the corridor, followed by the others. He had the wooden sword in his hands. Takeshi had picked up a wooden rod from inside the room. Chido was wounded but it wasn't that bad and he had no trouble walking on his own. Makie was terrified but she wanted to escape the school.
They all had each other's backs covered and walked through the corridor which still looked terrible as hell. They walked on the blood without trying to make much noise, ignoring as many corpses as possible. It wasn't easy for high schoolers to go through such type of hell in one day but all four of them were holding on somehow. Mainly because they had each other to rely on. If alone, they would have broken long ago.
A turn came ahead of them. Raiden peeked through and a big hall lay ahead of them. There was nothing new in the hall, only blood, and corpses.
They moved in and found not a single of the monsters, which was a good thing for them. Passing the hall, two options awaited them. Left and right. Left was the side which had an exit from the school. Right leading to the school's back part.
"We are currently in the center of the school. One way leads to the exit and one way to its back." Raiden said. "It's time to part away."
"Wait! You seriously are going there?" Makie asked in worry ness.
"There is no turning back now," Raiden replied. "I gotta go where I gotta go."
"But- but- what if something happened to you Raiden?" Chido worried.
Raiden said with a smile, "Don't worry about me, I will be just fine."
"Yeah, I am sure at this point, nothing can get to Raiden," Takeshi said.
"If you say so... but promise me one thing, that you will come back safely no matter what after doing whatever this thing of yours is!" Chido said.
"I promise!" They both crossed their pinky finger. "You promise too, that you will escape with the others, safely."
"I promise!" Chido said with a big smile on his face.
"Hump, whatever!" Makie showed her stubbornness, "Just try not to die, you dummy!"
"Hey! Was that an encouragement?" Raoden asked.
"Yeah, that's my style."
Raiden chuckled, "Thanks, Maki!" He said.
"Hey! Now don't go calling me Maki, only my close friends get to call me that."
Raiden looked over to Takeshi, "I am leaving them to you, now."
"Yeah, I won't let anything happen to them," Takeshi said.
"Take care!"
"You too!"
They both shook hands.
Raiden turned around, to the right end and followed through that path. He waved his right hand without looking back as he walked away.
Takeshi, Makie, and Chido didn't wait there long and turned around to go in the opposite direction where Raiden had just gone. They went to the left to get the hell out of the school.
The school was big so Raiden had to walk through different corridors. Luckily, he didn't encounter a single one of those monsters. He carefully took every step and scanned the area before turning to a new site. He was determined to make it out of the school to head to the Storage Building.
After continuous walking and walking and walking. He reached the far back of his school building. He followed through a small way and reached a fence gate, which was already open.
He walked out of the fence gate. And, after
what felt like a decade to him, he finally got a taste of fresh air. He was outside under the big sky.
Behind the school building, was a not-so-big area but it was good enough to have a walk around. In that area, behind the school building, laid the Storage Building, which was now visible to Raiden.
He slowly walked towards it. There was some blood on the ground but it wasn't as much as it was inside the school.
The Storage Building wasn't far so Raiden had already reached it.
The gates of the building were closed but as he got closer to the building, something caught his attention.
A boy sat by the Storage Building's gate. He had wall behind his back and didn't move a single inch.
As Raiden reached the building, he kneeled to get a better look.
'What the hell?' was what his brain could think after seeing that the skin of that boy had been peeled out.
'Must have been those monsters' work,' he didn't give it much thought and stood up.
He stood against the closed gate and held the Handel to open it.
He took a gulp in, 'I will find Hatsuhi as soon I open this gate.'
He opened it!
But he didn't find Hatsushi. All there was left in that Storage Building was a pile of corpses laying down in the middle of the building.
He went inside toward the pile of corpses to inspect what was going on.
'These are the monsters!' he exclaimed as he carefully looked at the pile of corpses.
'What is the meaning of this? Are you telling me the people who were inside the building did all this?'
It was unbelievable for him on a first look to think that someone took care of this many of those monsters.
As he was inspecting the pile of corpses he noticed that head of every single monster was burst out.
'So the head is the way?'
He walked out of the building and got behind it. He reached the place where he and Shogo had their showdown.
He found his metal rod from that day laying on the ground. He picked it up, its tip was covered in frozen blood.
He equipped the metal rod in his right hand and the wooden sword in his left.
'Now, that's better,' he felt safer to have a more reliable weapon.
He came to the front side of the Storage Building.
'Hatsuhi must be with the group of people who killed all those monsters. If she really is then she must be safe. And, looks like they already left the school. Time for me to leave this shitty place I guess.'
He was about to move ahead to leave the area but a sudden voice startled him.
Loud footsteps. As if someone was running. The sound came from inside the school and it was constantly getting closer.
It wasn't long for the source of the loud
footsteps to come running out from the back of the school building.
Surprisingly for Raiden, it was a familiar face. And, that familiar face came running toward him and pushed their face into Raiden's chest while crying all the time.
"They died. They both died. Takeshi and Chido died." Makie looked up to Raiden as she uttered those unbelievable words while being covered in blood herself.
