Imminent Departure

We spent day after day together, minding our own business while the world kept going around us. Days became weeks and weeks to months.

Even without the main villain, the original story was put in motion by the main actors, and soon Prince Arthur claimed Aramis as his intended bride, having finally convinced her. What he didn’t know was that he had Priscilla to thank for that. She had spent countless nights coaching Aramis about this and that and trying to convince her that the Prince was her best bet at love and a happy ending.

The maid had entertained a small crush on me for my actions during her rescue, but the Prince’s attempts at wooing her, and my own indifference towards her finally won over. I had Priscilla to thank for that too.

We had been using each other as a cover to skirt our social obligations until her mother finally gave up trying to tie the knot between her and Arthur, switching her intentions to me. After all, Gwyn too was the ruler of a kingdom.
