Chapter 145: The Doorstep of Time, Part 2

Katya's House, Sunset Park, Elgin

"You've done pretty well for yourself, little sister," said Lena. "This is a cute house."

Lena looked around at the mixture of old and new articles adorning the house. On her way to the kitchen, she noticed Holophotos of Cyrus and the other Callahans projected on her wall. They floated just above a telephone stand with a dial phone. The dining room had decorative Russian plates and an icon of the Madonna and Child. Lena looked at the kitchen calendar. It was dated 1965 and had what appeared to be a musical group.

"Why the year 1965 for your calendar?" asked Lena.

"Simple. 1965 uses the same days and months as this year, 2038. Among others, it contains my favorite band, the Dave Clark Five. The band pictured there for January is the Rolling Stones."

"Funny haircuts...British invasion?" questioned Lena. "What's that over there?"

Lena was pointing at the food preserver.
