"Hey Ben, hey Ryan." I called out to them when I entered the kitchen and saw them leaning against the side of the island. If I wasn't mistaken, I would have sworn that there were tears in Ben's eyes. They were slightly red around the edges and he looked like he was truly upset. Ryan wasn't without the redness either. I couldn't see the tears on his face, but he looked like he was close to crying.

"Hey Ocean, hey Makai." Ryan called out to me.

"Hey." Ben sounded so empty that I literally felt like it was hurting me. Why did things like this have to happen to him and Ryan? Why did people have to be so stupid and evil?

"How are you doing? Are you OK?" I didn't want to make it seem like I had been searching for them for reasons that even I didn't know. I just wanted to make sure that they knew both me and Makai were here for them.
