Chapter 50: Lessons

Cassie stood in front of the bathroom mirror, frowning at her haggard reflection. Her attempts to brush the dull out of her just-longer-than-shoulder-length hair didn't do a thing to liven it up. Raising her hands, she patted the bags under her tired, bloodshot eyes, and her frown deepened. When did she get so tired?

At thirty-years-old, she looked, at most, twenty-five on a good day. Today, she looked like forty was just around the corner. Shrugging, she forced a smile, consoling herself with the fact that at least she had a hot, well-toned body that any forty-year-old would envy. A solid, uninterrupted sleep was all she needed to return to her normal self. Exactly what her normal self was, she couldn't say, but she intended to get there, somehow.
