You Can Tell Them

"Why is it that almost all the time, you are getting injured?" Slate asked as he started treating her injury.

"I think all my injuries aren't entirely my fault though," she replied.

The other wrist wound was because he had pushed her, but maybe that was partially her fault.

Slate didn't say anything more as he knew the other wound that was still healing was because of him, not entirely but he was at fault as well.

Eduard watched as Slate tend to Amethyst wrist and a meaningful smile appeared on his lips.

Amethyst noticed this and gave him a look to stop whatever it was that he was doing... or thinking at that.

He grinned before pursing his lips when Slate looked up, already done with tending to her little injury.

"Anyway," Slate started as he fix the things he had used.

Amethyst glared at Eduard before looking back at Slate.

"I asked him because despite their company being smaller, they could still look into your contract. They could still ask and if the company couldn't bring out anything then the lie would be revealed."

He looked at her as a waitress placed their new order of coffee and a few dishes.

"Dishes?" Eduard was bewildered because he only asked for some drink refill.

"It's already lunch time, we should eat," Slate said seeing his confused look.

He then returned his look at Amethyst, "And if you have a real contract, the contents would obviously be confidential and they have no right to ask about what is the extent of the contract."

Amethyst slowly nodded her head, that is indeed true. She didn't think about it that way.

"How did you come up with this?" she couldn't help but ask him as she started putting dishes on her plate.

Since he had offered why must she shy away?

"I spoke with Scarlet on that night, before we even meet that Adam guy," he replied.

Thinking about it, it was the night that he had a break down.

"You already talked about it back then?" she asked him in shock but her voice didn't rise.

"I was thinking about it when your sister appeared the first time. You are still not bound by anyone back then, it would be easy for them to take you back by force. But if you have at the very least a contract then you will have a bit of security," Slate replied.

"They will have to think about their next move if they knew. A ghost writer is already one thing but if they are to force an already contracted author to write for you. That would be another case," she added while nodding her head.

Eduard was actually eating, looking back and forth at their exchange.

He felt like despite the bubble not being pink but they still have their own world in their own bubble.

'Should I just leave? Or should I just go and visit Scarlet? Or call for Anna instead?' he started thinking of things to do if the two were to continue speaking on their own.

After giving it more thought, Amethyst finally agreed to the decision.

"Oh," she suddenly reacted looking at Eduard.

"Wh- What is it?" he asked in shock.

"Does that mean I will have to receive some salary as well?" she asked as if this was something that is new.

"Ah, yes. Of course, did you not really read the contract and just signed?" Eduard asked, didn't know whether to laugh or not.

"I was too focus in making Adam give up on following me that I just signed," she could only reply.

Eduard once again didn't know whether to laugh or cry, she had trusted him that much? Despite the situation, if she didn't fully trust the person then she would surely check on what she was signing.

Slate just took the contract that was beside Eduard, as Eduard was still busy thinking just what kind of person Amethyst was.

He then handed it to her after hitting her head lightly with the folder.

"I know you would, but still I'll remind you. Don't do such things again. When you are signing a contract be sure to read it properly. Eduard is a trustworthy person but most of them aren't. That Adam man is a good example."

Amethyst scratched her head as she took the contract, "I know, I will keep that in mind in the future."

Eduard snapped out of his thoughts only to see that she was already flipping through the contract.

With a shrug, he continued eating.

Its no use trying to get into the wavelength of these two who act in accordance with one another.

Scarlet had already told him that they have a different chemistry on them, he was just experiencing it for the first time that he would still be shock at the smallest of things.

"I see, this is indeed a good offer," Amethyst commented after seeing what she will receive.

"I was only a helper but you are actually giving me so much," she looked up at him and returned it again.

"Well, Ms. Night is one of our best seller author, as someone who could help her publish a new book. The company would of course give you that much," Eduard replied.

Amethyst went silent for a bit before asking, "Have you told them about me?"

Eduard knew what she was asking, "No, not until you tell me to do so."

"How did you tell them about Scarlet having me as her successor? And the fact that, I know you already know, that she wants me to finish the book," she asked again.

"That, it was her to talk to them, it was difficult because they don't know your capacity and only heard about your abilities from us," Eduard replied.

Amethyst nodded her head, "You can tell them."

Eduard and Slate looked at her.

"You can tell them but I still wish for them not to do anything. The company is already going down, that is already their retribution. If we are to still have your company involved then I will have to get involve as well," she looked straight in his eyes.

"I don't want any more trouble, I don't want anyone digging about the past."

Eduard nodded his head, "I understand. I will do as you say. Astral is someone even the company had looked into, knowing how capable you are, they would surely have no more reserve when it comes to accepting you as the one to finish it."

"About finishing it... I am actually still thinking about it," Amethyst said as she started playing with the food in her plate.

Slate and Eduard once again looked at her in shock.

"Don't look at me like that, I may have been the one who helped her finish half of it but I am still not the core of the story. Finishing a story that you didn't thought of is actually very difficult. What she wants may end up not the way I would be ending it," she explained.

She sighed, "She did tell me that I can finish the story the way I see fit but I wouldn't want to be careless about it. It is after all her finally work, the final thing she wanted to leave behind."

The two men looked at one another before they could only nod their heads.

She smiled before she continued eating.
