Lady Ashara was the first to act, she sped passed the guards at the door and inside the room where 10 additional armored soldiers stood and hugged the man on the bed like her life depended on it earning herself a grunt from him.
The man patted her and started to sooth the crying lady.
"They said you died! I thought I will never see you again!" I watched their interactions with a smile. It was worth it.
"Aye, almost did. What are you doing here? Where are we?" The man calmly asked while observing the room and his other companion that was sleeping.
"Ser Arthur." Princess Elia followed her friend inside the room and got closer to the stupefied knight. I watched him trying to get up but he was still too weak.
"You should stay in bed. Courtesy and etiquette can wait." I did my lordly entrance. Unfortunately my plan was destroyed by a small girl that swished passed me and straight into the man's arms.
You think he was shocked before you should have seen his face now.
"H-how...?" He said lost while patting the young, crying princess under the watchful eyes and smiling faces of his Princess and his sister. "The Prince?!" He asked exitedlybbut Lady Ashara only shook her head making him sadden for a second before a sigh escaped his mouth.
His previous words weren't answered but everyone in the room looked at me.
"Leave us." I ordered and my personal guards moved like one to the door without any wasted movement. "Bring Ser Dayne sword, I think he's not a threat anymore." I said looking as Ser Arthur bidder to confirm my words and looked back to one of my men who complied and brought the wounded knights weapons and some new clothes.
"You stay Ser Bryce." I said and saw my guard commander stop and turn back to us with one hand on his sword hilt. I walked to grab the chair and placed it at the foot of the bed.
"What do you remember Ser?" I asked as I comfortably sat down. The ladies sat on the sides of his bed after curiously looking at the older man at the other bed on the other side of the room.
Ser Arthur looked distressed at Princess Elia.
"Princess Elia already knows. It would be bizarre if she didn't right? I only want to hear of the things that happened outside." This made him relieved but I probably earned a questioning session with the Princess later.
Ser Arthur thought for a moment and touched the back of his shoulder.
"We were guarding the Tower of Joy on Prince Rhaegar orders. Me and Ser Oswell were patrolling outside as our commander Ser Hightower came down with sickness and was unconscious inside." He looked at the bed opposite of his. "We've got the news about the battle of Trident and Kings landing sacking and the Princess and royal children murder. I wanted to go back... But then we heard riders approaching. Then the Northmen came. We were fighting and Ser Oswell died by Stark's sword..." He looked sad again but a small, sad smile adorned his face. "Then I think I heard horses again and was about to finish the Stark to prepare for the next attack when I felt a sting on my shoulder and that's it..." He looked puzzled while massaging his shoulder.
"Aye, some excellent and handsome master archer must have got you. Probably saved your life as well. Should thank the lad for it I tell ya." We were looking at Bryce funnily.
"What?" I saw Bryce looking back at us puzzled.
"Was the arrow really necessary Ser Bryce?" I asked but already new the answer.
"M'lord did you see this fuc.. I mean Ser Arthur skill with the swords?" He pointed at the wounded man. "I mean if and I mean if I know who shoot the arrow I would assume he did so in good faith as the man is alive thanks to that." He sais proud of himself.
"And why would that be Ser Bryce? I had everything under control..." Now Arthur was angry and hostilely looked my commander in the eyes.
"Well, maybe if the baby face spent less time doing dancing moves with his sword like a Lys whore and checked his kills he would know when his 'dead' enemy is alive and with a dagger behind his back!" Ser Bryce made fun of the Sword of the Morning taunting him.
I looked at Rhae but she was sleeping in Arthur arms. Too many surprises for one day for her I assume.
"And what is this refined Ser name again?" Ser Arthur asked but I don't like when this is going.
"Ser Bryce Smallspear." I looked as my friend puffed his chest.
"Oh! I'm sorry to hear that..." I looked at the best sword in seven kingdoms and I think I know where this is going.
"Sorry?" Bryce was lost but I know he just dug his grave.
"About your small... spear..." I couldn't hold it and laughed and the ladies followed.
"You want to go at it Ser Arthur? And what kind of name is that? It sounds like a sissy pillow biter! Oh I'm sorry, I forgot that you're still recovering from the previous fight you lost!" After hearing my guards comeback I must admit it's not bad!
"Ser's! It's not the time!" I hit the arm of my chair. Fuck it hurts! "Ser Bryce, tells us your side please." I asked and thought how much I want to get out of here.
"Yes m'lord." He became serious. "We arrived after they started fighting. Ser Dayne was about to get stabbed so I had to do something but as per your order we couldn't kill the Northmen. I fired an arrow to get their attention." He looked troubled.
"Into my shoulder Ser Small...spear. You forgot to add it. You shoot an arrow into my shoulder." Looks like Ser Arthur won't forget about it too soon.
"Aye." I looked at my best man as he looked around, It seemed like he doesn't want to continue.
"I don't have time for games! Talk!" I will really loose my patience.
"And it might have been poisoned..." Now hearing his words made my eyes widen.
The room was quiet and only small princess's regular, quiet breath could be heard.
"Explain." I said through clenched teeth.
"I'm a bad archer, trick from sell swords days. Small scratch is enough if you don't have antidote you will faint in moments." I really wasn't expecting him to say that.
Looks like the knights and Lords are human as well. It's not the story I read it's my life now. Some will honor their oaths and some won't. I should forget about the fan fictions and tv show. This is my life as well and I don't know shit about how this world works. Maybe it's time to put my world morals away...
