Happy Ending – Present

Five years had passed since the fateful day they broke up taking different paths.

Neither of them had fallen in love anymore, certainly they had had affairs but nothing serious, because they both still had the heart for each other.

It was a void that no one else could fill, despite the successes they had had in life.

Obviously not everything had gone according to plan and even if it had led them to doubt their choices, neither of them had ever given up.

Finn returned from the army realizing that it was not for him, however he found that he liked teaching and was able to grasp that essence that made the difference, making him a point of reference just as Professor Schuester had been for them.

Rachel, in her turn, did not continue with NYADA - the school she had always wanted to enter - because she was no longer what she wanted.

And one day, after several auditions and many closed doors in the face, she joined the cast of the musical Funny Girl. That was another dream in the drawer: she loved Barbra Streisand and being able to play a role of her was the greatest satisfaction of her.

The new choices they made pushed them further away and perhaps out of pain or stupid pride, neither of them took a step to catch up halfway.

Fate was lurking.

If two people are meant to be together, this will happen regardless of the events of life.

Rachel had reserved a front row seat for Finn for her Broadway debut: they had promised to always be there for each other; but the disappointment that painted on his face was evident, especially when that chair was left empty throughout the show.

Despite the excruciating pain she felt in her heart and that emptiness, which not even the music could fill, she shone on that stage giving the best of herself.

Everything was in the right place and everyone complimented her, but that evening, once she got home, she broke free in an unprecedented cry.

A few times she had cried like that, but no one had ever been as devastating as hers.

The show was a success but Rachel was unable to fully enjoy it: she misses the other half of her, the one who believed in her unconditionally, he who gave her the strength to always be the best of her: she missed Finn.

"One might wonder why: why a Funny Girl revivial, a classic of the musical with a star who is an icon? Among so many works by young authors, why did Sidney Green decide to dust off this tired and retired old lady? Frankly, there's only one reason I can think of and that's Rachel Berry. It takes guts to get into the boots of the diva Funny Brice and it shows that Rachel has some, but she also has something else in abundance: her talent. So much, a mountain of talent and I'm not talking about the Appalachians, the Berry and the Alps. I might find flaws in the performance of this young actress, but I challenge anyone to have the courage to criticize the daring mistakes of a super nova that exploded. in front of your eyes. Despite it being her best performance, she couldn't pretend not to notice her lost gaze. We cannot but admit that Rachel Berry on that stage shone just like a young Barbra Streisand, but something was missing, maybe that someone she dedicated the whole show to, that person who made her the same that she then became " he avidly read the review in the New York Times. It was undoubtedly her last words that gave her the necessary shock to begin to face a change that was not entirely foreseen, at least not consciously.

If you persist in looking for something

you run the risk of finding it.

You never know what you are missing

until she hurts a lot

Hiiiiiiiiiiiii

I had to update first but due to a lot of crashes I couldn't, however, here I am.

The first chapter was about the past, this instead the present, here we see what happens after their separation; when Finn stays in Ohio and Rachel leaves for New York. The events that are present some have really happened others are of my own invention, but anyway I have based myself on the episodes of Glee; in fact, as you can see the dialogue or rather the newspaper article that Rachel reads at the end takes place in the 5th season. I hope that despite the chapter being short, you enjoyed it, and I hope I kept the characters and conveyed to you those emotions that I felt in writing. See you in the next chapter which will be the last and if you like leave a review, negative or positive, the important thing is that it is constructive. I love Finchels and therefore your every opinion is really important to me ... Happy reading and I hope you really like it = D
