Namjoon arrived at the Meaty Way. He was surprised to find that the restaurant was still locked. This is strange, he thought and tried the handle again.
"It is not going to open by itself." A low voice answered from the alleyway. "The boss is not here yet."
Nimue stepped out from the alleyway with hands folded. Namjoon regarded him more closely. He was broad-shouldered with hair neatly trimmed and he was skinny for a chef. "Is it strange that the boss is late?"
"This is the first time that he is late," Nimue said and leaned against the wall, "This means that something has happened."
"Something bad?" Namjoon asked worriedly.
Nimue was about to reply when a car pulled up. The door opened, Jungkook and a distraught Yuna climbed out. A faint smile played on Nimue's lips. "You are late."
"We had a personal matter," Jungkook replied vaguely and searched for his keys.
Namjoon watched Yuna, she was still standing close to the car and gazing at her feet. He was curious as to what the personal matter could have been. She looked up and he tore his gaze away from her, he felt a vibration in his back pocket.
He took out his phone and swiped to unlock the screen. A new message was flashing, he got a weird feeling in the pit of his stomach and he opened it. His eyes widened he did not hear Jungkook calling out to him until he felt a light pressure on his shoulder.
"Joon? We have to get ready."
Namjoon gazed up from his phone. "Jungkook, we have a problem."
Jungkook motioned with his eyes that they should take this inside and not hear where the walls have ears to eavesdrop on their conversation. "We can talk in the office."
****
Yuna and Nimue were already inside and busy getting the restaurant ready for opening at 9. Yuna was getting the table clothes when she caught sight of Namjoon's face. Worry lines had settled there but why was Jungkook taking him t the office?
She still did not trust him and wanted so badly to eavesdrop at the office door. She had done it once but Jungkook caught her while he was busy with an interview. She did explain to him that she thought the girl was going to try something.
Jungkook had waved her off and four months later, the girl broke his heart and left him for his best friend, which he was not talking to anymore. She promised him that she would never eavesdrop again. She shook her head and continued with setting up the tables.
****
Jungkook closed the office door behind Namjoon. "Why do you look like a ghost?"
"Jin is causing trouble," Namjoon replied and his voice turned high pitched, "He is closing interviews at 3 this afternoon. I think something happened! He was fine this morning and nothing was out of place."
"Calm down," Jungkook replied, "We can still do this."
"How?" Namjoon asked and sat down on a chair, "It does not seem that Yuna is excited about this."
Jungkook went quiet. How much was he willing to tell Namjoon? Did he want to confess and tell them all the dirty laundry about their family? He was not wrong about Yuna. They were fighting since they left his apartment and he knew it was not about the interview.
She was angry about their parents and how their mother had taken over everything; again. He promised he would buy her the same sneakers but she had cut him off. 'You do not have to do that, Kookie.'
"Do not worry," Jungkook said softly, "I will drag her if need be."
Namjoon let out a sigh. "Do you think that fate is playing a trick on us?"
"Let us not bring fate into this," Jungkook replied and opened the office door, "I have a plan."
Namjoon did not find out what the plan was because Jungkook left the office. He could not help himself to be worried about the whole thing. he knew deep down in his heart that Yuna was going to be perfect.
Jin just needs to open his heart and he would see it too. They have chemistry and not even Minyu had any chemistry on the big screens. He wiped his face with his hands and the office door burst open once more.
*****
Yuna kept a watchful eye on the office door. She couldn't hide her curiosity and went into the kitchen. "Nimue, do you think Namjoon and Kookie are planning something?"
"I haven't the foggiest," he replied bored.
Yuna bit her lip. "All right."
"Why do you sound so worried?"
Yuna stopped at the kitchen door, her hand was on the handle. "I think something is going on."
"Don't worry your pretty little head."
She left the kitchen only to find Jungkook waiting for her. "Una, we have to go."
Her brow furrowed in confusion. Go? Go where exactly? She had told him 'no', she was not going to do this and if he mentions it once more... "I said no."
She saw surprise creep in his eyes. Ahha! She thought, something was going on and she folded her arms, very satisfied with herself. She wanted to make him sweat, this was not like him keeping secrets from her.
"You should stop spoiling surprises," Jungkook said, false anger filling his words.
Yuna began doubting her original thought. He was not here to drag her to the interview? She was feeling conflicted, first, she was excited and with everything that happened she was doubtful. Their parents always had brought out the worst in her.
She was being unfair to everyone around her and even if she did go... there was no guarantee that she would get the part. "You promise that we are not going to that interview?"
Jungkook nodded while keeping his fingers crossed behind his back. "I promise that we are not going to that interview. I just want to take you out to go and buy a new pair of sneakers."
"Can we go later then?" she replied, "We still need to get up and running here."
"Then we leave at two," he said enthusiastically.
Yuna's eyes narrowed. The tone of his voice indicated that she was falling into a trap; again. "Two is perfect."
Jungkook left her so she could carry on with her duties. Namjoon was still waiting in the office when he opened the door-
"Jungkook, is she going?"
Jungkook closed the door behind him. "Under false pretence but... At least I will get her there."
*****
Two in the Afternoon:
"Yuna! Yuna where are you?" Jungkook said as rushed out of his office.
"I am in the storage area!" Yuna replied and came out, "Is it time?"
Jungkook nodded, "We have to leave now."
He did not give her time to reply as he grabbed her arm and dragged her from the restaurant. He opened the car and here protest fell on deaf ears. He climbed in the car and drove with the devil on his tail.
"Are you sure we are going shoe shopping?" Yuna asked through gritted teeth.
Jungkook did not answer. He was looking around, trying to remember the directions Namjoon had given him. He felt anxious, Yuna was going to be so angry but he would know that it had been worth it.
"Kookie?"
"Hmm?" he sighed and took an immediate left.
"You haven't answered my question."
"What question?" Jungkook asked and pulled over into a parking lot with a huge building. He parked, switched off the car and turned his gaze to Yuna.
With a sigh escaping her lips, she asked again. "Are we going shoe shopping?"
Jungkook bit his bottom lip. No. "Yes, come on I found this place a few days back and they have amazing sneakers."
Yuna doubted that was the case but she climbed out of the car. She looked up at the building, squinting her eyes.
Jungkook appeared by her side, "Let's go."
As they walked up the stairs Yuna stopped. "You are lying to me, aren't you?"
Jungkook was already at the door and he glanced over his shoulder. "Would you just please do this."
It was more of a statement than a question. Yuna narrowed her eyes and sighed. "I am not properly dressed for an interview."
"It does not matter," Jungkook said, "they are ending at three."
"All right," Yuna replied, defeated. "I will do this."
"That is the spirit!," Jungkook exclaimed and he opened the door. "Go to the elevator, press the button for the second top floor."
*****
Hoseok stared at his phone. They had seen ten girls for the whole day and time was ticking. He couldn't stand it anymore and messaged Namjoon.
"Is she coming???"
In an instant, he received a reply from Namjoon. "They should be there by now."
A sigh of relief escaped his lips and he placed his phone back into his pocket. What a relief, now Tae and Yoongi would be able to see what he saw. He turned towards Tae who was sitting on his chair staring at the list of previous candidates, the door to the room opened and their heads turned simultaneously.
A smile formed on Hoseok's face. She was here and now it will begin. He stood up, sped across the floor and held out his hand. "Hello, and welcome! Will you please follow me towards the stage room?"
He saw recognition spreading across her features. He tugged her hand slowly so that she could start walking. "You are going to stand over here with your back towards that door," he explained and let go of her hand, "just wait for Tae to give the signal."
*****
Jin stood impatiently behind the door. He had heard that the door opened and he had to bit back a frustrated sigh. He thought that this would have been over by now and that they could check on the call back list.
"Action!"
That was his queue to burst through the door. A small grin played over his lips. Time to scare the last remaining interviewee. He placed his hand on the door handle with a loud bang he entered the small room.
He saw the girl standing with her back to him and she glanced over her shoulder at him. He paused. She looked oddly familiar, he shook his head and closed the distance. He grabbed her arm, pushing her against the wall.
Her head bopped slightly when her hair settled across her cheeks, his eyes widened. He couldn't believe it...the waitress from that place, she was here and she was in his arms reach. He lost count at the seconds passing, his heart was beating slowly. What sorcery is this?
He began leaning his head forward even though he was half towering over her. He was well aware of her eyes following his movements but he could not help himself and his lips touched hers softly.
