Our Place

As we soon approached the apartment, Cain slows down and pulls to a halt a few feet from the entrance. I lift my head to look at his face when he lowers his feet to support the bicycle before resting his palm atop my hands that had been hugging his waist.

"No, don't let go... It's almost a given what is likely to happen once we go back... Later... Spare me a bit more of your time. Don't let Orion know. It isn't his concern anyways..." Cain pauses as he chooses his words carefully.

"Why? Is there something you can't tell me here?" I tugged on his shirt as he pats my forearm reassuringly before shifting his gaze back forwards and kicks his feet off the ground, pushing the bicycle into motion.

Not a moment too soon, I spot Orion flagging us over with a much shorter person standing beside him. Cain cusses beneath his breath and back-pedals just as Orion was about to grab the handle, causing him to tumble forward and nearly lose his footing.
