There was a chance Cassius would indeed back down once he got what he wanted, but he was not the one who determined whether or not the war happened. He was just a pawn in the goddess's game. Perhaps it didn't matter what he did, Itrusia would be attacked nonetheless. If the aim was revenge, it didn't matter what they did.
