Feng Mei was still in shock. Every animal she saw the system gave a small report.
'oh my god, this is a miracle! The game system is being useful!'
Feng peered at the huge horse dragon hybrid-like animal being ridden by a white-clothed lady. She excitedly looked at it for stats.
But the notification came out blank. She tried to once again on a huge elephant with rat ears. It was the same result.
'Why is that so? Is it because the updates are not finished?'
'Did I break it with my compliment? Sigh, I never should have praised this thing...' she leaned over the windowsill watching the road. A small mouse-like creature with cat-like features scurried under their carriage wheel.
{'Rat
Tiny beast
Mage class - .....
Hit point- 1
Vital attacks - scratch
Senses – Dark vision 20+, perception 10+
Keen smell: can sniff out any penny on the ground.}
'Now what? When I call you shitty you work? Gosh seriously....'
Bi Feng went into deep thoughts. The system seems to find it very easy to give the stats for smaller creatures. But when it came to bigger animals the system just gave her a black notification with no stats.
'I guess the system isn't at its full capacity,' she nodded to herself.
The Duke and the Duchess who was sitting opposite them secretly watched all the children.
"Honey, let's get Feng and Elle a magic beast. They seem to like looking at it very much. Look, Feng's eyes are shimmering..." lady Perlin gently pinched her husband's arm.
Duke Parlov nodded with a thoughtful look. "You are right dear. The girls will be staying all alone in the dorms. They need some kind of protection. I reckon a level C beast will suffice. What about the boys?"
Lady Perlin glanced at Ethan beside her. "Hey little one, do you need to buy anything before you join the school? Is there anything that you fancy like a book or something?"
Etha's green eyes faltered for a second. Shyly he glanced at his lap. "I-I don't want anything..... Just want to go to school,"
"Is it so?" Duke Parlov glanced at his wife, who looked worried at his response. "As your parents, we would like to buy you a gift; you don't have to be so shy about asking,"
Ethan just cocked a brow with a look of contempt. "You... I don't want anything,"
"I would like a giant eagle, please. The ones which can fly high," Aiden added from the other side.
"Aiden!" Ethan glared at him.
"What? I wanted one. They are pretty convenient to use," he cheerfully smiled.
Duke subtly chuckled. "We'll get you one, but you are not allowed to fly until you are ten years old."
"Deal~" Aiden happily swum his legs humming as well.
Ethan, on the other hand, had a deep frown.
Feng Mei peered at them both. Even though it seems like everything was perfect Ethan still hasn't subconsciously accepted his new family.
He would rarely demand anything. It's as if he is scared that if he asked them his wishes for things they would toss him away.
Such deep-rooted worry and fear are very normal for an abandoned child.
She glanced at lady Perlin who silently hugged Ethan to her side and kissed his blond head.
His frown melted away instantly. He just smiled and hugged her back.
'I guess he really doesn't want gifts. All he needs is a warm hug... aww why are they so cute,'
Soon the carriage entered an area that was much more crowded than before. A long line of carriages waited in front of them.
Duke glanced out casually out. "What is the holdup about?"
"Sir there is some scuffle up ahead. It seems to be between the Frowe family's young son and the Ducal family's Claudius," the coachman relayed the information.
Duke Parlov sighed loudly. "Those two again."
"Wonder what the problem is between them. They seem to be involved in a lot of scuffling,"
Feng Mei's ears perked up. The name Claudius seemed very very familiar.
'Isn't he one of the male leads?! Oh my god," she urgently moved to the window and peered out. All she could see were coaches lined up and people standing around in a crowd. Subtly he noticed a small patch of red hair standing out in between.
"Is Claudius the redhead?"
"Yes dear," lady Perlin looked at her husband and he too looked her way. "Coachman, please take a new path. We shall not get involved with those families,"
Feng glanced at him. Those words were a subtle warning or prevention of some sort.
'eh probably thinks I'm a young maiden who falls in love with any tom dick and harry.' She narrowed her eyes slightly.
"That boy has no disciple," the Duke said as a matter of fact. But in fact his eyes were focused on his boys, who were both frowning. "It's better to focus on what we have at hand,"
Feng tilted her head in confusion. 'What do we have on hand? What are you implying sir?'
Lady Perlin tried her best to smooth it down. "Darling don't joke around. Feng is not at the age to look at boys,"
"I look at boys," Elle declared with a bright smile.
Both the Duke and Duchess were dumb stuck.
"Oh it... it must be because boys are your friends," lady Perlin chuckled awkwardly.
"No, I want to marry that guy. I'm pretty sure he will like me back. But it's hard to get his attention."
Feng looked at her eyes wide open. "Who is that?!"
"Secret~" Elle winked her way and giggled.
