Chapter 77: The final day of the tourney

Please read this part first. I want to explain some things.

First, I would like to apologize for any mistakes or illogical events in the story.

I got a complaint that I don't take your opinion when building the story.

But I swear to all of you that when I write a new chapter I read all the comments from the previous chapters.

Not only that, when I have a free day, I would edit the chapters based on your opinions and comments. Yeah, indeed I don't change everything but when I see it as logical and would not harm the story, I would do that. Example of that, the age when he asked his father for men.

I only edited the first 28 chapters till now. Not because I am lazy or something but I only have3-4 hours to write a day. I only have 4-5 hours to sleep so think of it.

I try my best to upload at least a chapter a day to finish this story as fast as possible.

For the next problem, the story's pace is too slow. Yes, indeed I figured this problem and would haste the pace a little after this arc. The rebellion had already started on my Patreon.

When I edit the chapters again, I will try to cut the long story short. I will remove the boring parts.

I try adding some events missing from the other fanfiction. Like this arc, How he could be a lord without organizing a tourney. I added a kingdom-building arc to the story.

As for the canon, most of its events would pass much faster as Edward would only sit on his throne and play some tricks from behind the scenes

He would have the time to finish another two castles before the rebellion and appoint Benjamen Mineclaw and Jeffry Frog as their lords. He was planning to make Clinn the lord of Griffen's Roost after the upcoming war. Flip, Robin Hood, Brown would be appointed as the lords instead of the three houses that would support the crown. With their help, he would have a huge help and loyal men to support.

The eight's eyes lit up at once after listening to their lord's words. They also had a determined look on their face. They would do whatever they could to help their lord achieve this dream. They were ambitious, too, as they thought they would get a part of the pie after their lord achieved everything. They would have the ability to build a large house for their family.

"So what do you think? Are you going to support me till the end? Are you going to help me in subduing the seven kingdoms?" Asked Edward with a cheerful expression. He was trying to fire his men up so that they would have the same goal as him.

"Of course, my lord." Said Clinn as he got down on the ground on his knee. He was setting an example to others. Since their lord wanted to be the king, they had to act like this to show their loyalty.

"We would stand behind you now and forever, my lord." Said Mace Flip before getting down on his knee as well. He was the one that had spent the most time with Edward since he was close to Edward in age. He was older than Edward by just two years, but he was excellent.

"We would do as you say, my lord." Said the rest in one voice. Edward could hear their determined voice and could not be more joyful.

Those eight were Edward's most loyal men, so of course, he would feel like that after hearing that they were ok with his decision and would support him in whatever he decided.

At first, Edward did not trust anyone, even those eight he had chosen himself. He thought that they could turn on him at any moment as he did not know what was in their heart. But after all, they had gone through together and their sacrifices, Edward knew how loyal they were to him. He had even sent men to spy on those eight at first to see if they were connected to the spies of the great lords that would harm him. But after all this investigation, Edward did not find anything. So he started opening up to them and let them take part in his plans. He told them many secrets that shocked them, but of course, he could not tell them everything.

"I also wanted to praise you all for the effort you made to reach this point. You will be great in the future, and your names would be known all over Westeros for future generations to come. Now, since you all know my plans and the roles you are going to play in them, let's start, shall we?" Said Edward with a smile. After this tourney, he had to wait only for two years. Everything would be his after that time.

"As you say, my lord." Said the eight as they raised their heads to look at their lord's eyes. He was the man that helped them reach this point. They did not know if they were not accepted by their lord eight years ago, would they dream to achieve anything? Although they went through hell to get to this point, without their lord's care and training manuals he provided, they would still be normal soldiers in the Baratheon's army at most. But now, they were respected knights known all over Westeros.

Edward nodded his head after seeing their look and continued his discussion with them.

The days passed quickly after this conversation, and soon the final day of the tourney came.

The horse riding competition took place on the sixth day, and Edward's man, Lance Stonewood, again took the prize. Till this point, the tournament was dominated by Stormsland as Edward won the melee while Robin and Lance won the Archery and horse riding, respectively.

This record got only broken on the eighth day of the tournament during the Axe throwing competition when a knight under the House Tully won it.

As for the Joust competition, it was epic. For seven days, Knights and squires got unhorsed one after another. There were no matches on the fourth, sixth, and eighth days of the tourney.

Edward defeated Yohn Royce on the fifth day, followed by Brandon Stark on the seventh. Finally, he defeated Arthur Dayne on the ninth day of the tourney.

Now, it was the tenth day, and Edward woke up early this morning to prepare himself. The final goal of this competition was here. He had a match against Rhaegar when the sun would be in the middle of the sky.

Edward was in his room in the castle. He had spent the last night there as he wanted to spend some time with Ashara. They were going to marry the following day after the tourney ended, so Edward saw that it was more important to spend the night with Ashara. He did not do anything tho as he was only two days away from their bedding ceremony.

Edward teased Ashara tho as he could not hold himself. His little brother down there was hard all the time. He wanted to do here the whole night but still resisted.

At the moment, Edward was getting ready for his match against the prince who defeated Ser Barristan on the ninth day of the tournament. Everyone was already waiting for this match as it was going to be an epic fight. The famous Targaryen prince against the might Baratheon Stag.

Ashara woke up even earlier than Edward as she was excited the whole time. Not to mention Edward's teasing, Edward was going to present her the Crown he made when he defeated the prince. Edward had already promised her that he would win this fight and choose her as his queen. Ashara wanted to see her lover kicking down the prince's ass and unhorse Rhaegar. Rhaegar had defeated her brother at the previous tourney of Storm's End that Steffon held.
