Chapter 1: Apophis

"My name is Amara,and you are?" tanong ng isang bata sa isang estrangherong lalake sa harap niya, nakaupo sila sa isang bundok kung saan tanaw ang isang lugar na puno ng nag tataasang gusali at nag liliparang sasakyan, ang lugar na ito ay bago sa paningin ni Amara ngunit ang tanging nasa-isip niya lang ay makilala ang lalaking kasama niya.

"In this place,they call me HI2001" kumunot ang noo ng ni Amara sa sinabi ng lalake.

"Ang hirap naman!" sabi nito habang kinakamot ang ulo.

"W-what?" the boy asked, "We can only understand English" her mouth formed an 'o'.

"Why?" she said with full lf curiousity.

"You'll know after we meet again" the girl pouted.

"When is that? " tanong nito sa lalake, umiling lamang ito na naging senyales na hindi niya alam ang sagot.

"I dont know when or where, but we'll see each other again" the boy said before looking at the girl beside her.

"Somewhere in the sky"

"Anak??" narinig kong gising sa akin ng tatay ko, kinusot ko ang mga mata ko bago umupo sa kama at tinabihan ang ito.

"You're shouting No what happen?"

"Daddy, where can I find the place where there are a looooot of big buildings and flying cars?" Tanong ko sa kaniya ng buong puso,kumunot ang noo ng tatay ko.

"Hindi ko alam anak, baka sa maynila? Sa ibang bansa? Sa susunod na henerasyon baka meron nang mga ganon, bakit?" umiling lamang ako, tumayo ako at pumunta sa terrace ng bahay namin para tanawin ang langit.

"Daddy?"

"Yes my princess?" tanong nito habang papalapit sa akin.

"I want to go there!" turo ko sa kalawakan.

"He said that we'll meet again somewhere in the sky daddy" I said, tumango-tango lamang ito sa akin na parang iniintindi ang sinasabi ko, lumuhod ito sa harap ko upang mag pantay ang mga mukha namin.

"Look at the sky Amara Elezia" agad ko itong sinunod.

"It's beautiful isn't it?" tumango ako ng maraming beses sa kaniya habang nakatingin padin sa kalangitan, I can see a lot of stars twinkling above the sky.

"It's also magical" he paused, "Masyado itong malawak at hindi natin kayang alamin ang lahat ng bagay sa labas ng mundo, hindi lamang tayo ang planeta sa buong kalawakan, maaaring may mga tao ding nabubuhay sa ibang planeta nang hindi natin nalalaman" nanlaki ang mga mata ko sa sinabi niya.

"Really daddy??!! Baka andon yung boy na nakita ko! " ngumiti lamang ang daddy ko at muling tumayo, hinawakan ng maliit kong kamay ang mga palad niya.

"I want to see the universe daddy" I said, that made him smile.

"You can always do that Amara, it's not Imposible as long as you want it"

"Be an Astronaut, then you can see how beautiful and magical it is to be in space"

"Amara Elezia?" A strange man asked, wearing the same uniform as me, Im taking a break here in starport cafe Inside the building 3 of NASA, Im usually here whenever I'm tired or stressed.

"What do you need?" I asked, while still eating, umupo ito sa harap kong silya at huminga ng malalim bago tuluyang mag salita.

"Commander Smith wanted to see you" napataas ang kilay ko sa narinig.

"Just me?" I asked.

"No, Actually all NASA'S astronauts,astronomers , Engineers and scientists, this is urgent we have a huge problem" tuluyan na akong napatingin sa lalake sa harapan ko at sabay isinandal ang likod sa silya.

"Really? I didn't recieved any calls and messages from my co-astronauts" huminga ito ng malalim.

"Do I really need to answer all your nonsene questions Ms, Abella? Coz if I should then fine! dont come with me, the team don't even need your presence! Our planet is at risk and then you are here sippin' a coffee like a normal person-"

"Am I not?? " mabilis itong tumayo habang nakaharap padin sa akin.

"ABELLA! YOU. ARE. AN. ASTRONAUT!" Sigaw nito, "And as an astronaut, WE ARE LIFTING A LOT OF RESPONSIBILITES ON TOP OF OUR SHOULDERS! NOT JUST TO YOUR FAMILY, YOUR FRIENDS! BUT ALSO THE WHOLE HUMANITY! " napansin kong nakatingin na sa akin ang lahat ng tao sa Cafe.

"I have to go" sabi nito at nagmadaling umalis sa harapan ko, huminga ako ng malalim bago tumayo at sinundan ang lalake na kumausap sa akin.

Napahiya ako don ah

Umiling ako habang nag lalakad palabas ng Cafe, dumeretyo ako sa building kung saan kami palaging nag memeeting and to my shocked, a lot of astronauts are here! The room was too crowded and I can see it on their faces that there is something wrong.

"Is everybody here?" narinig kong sigaw ni Commander Smith,agad namang nag salita ang lalaki na sumundo sa akin kanina sa cafe.

"No Commander, Astronaut Amara elezia-"

"I'm here" malakas na sabi ko, tama lamang upang marinig ng lahat ng tao sa loob ng silid, napatingin sa akin ang lahat kasama na rito si Commander Smith at yung lalakeng tumawag sa akin kanina, bahagya itong napaubo at inalis ang atensyon sa akin.

"You must be curious why I asked for a meeting" binuksan niya ang laptop na naka connect sa malaking monitor at maya maya pa ay may lumabas na isang mga data na kuha ng hubble space telescope II,  nanlaki ang mga mata ko sa nakita.

Apophis A, A huge asteroid that is moving straight to our planet's direction at the speed of 15,000 miles per hour, this asteroid is an interstellar object obviously, NASA never encountered this type of asteroid inside our solar system.

Our commander changed the next slide and it was a big asteroid, no A HUGE asteroid model in the video, pinanood kong mabuti ang mga detalye, galing itong south at sa mga oras na 'yon ay hindi tayo mapoprotektahan ng Jupiter at Saturn, We know this will happen but the study said that it will happen millions of years from now, this would be the end of humanity if this asteroid succeded to hit the earth. Tiningnan ko ang size nito, nanlaki ang mga mata ko sa nakita.

I-it was two times bigger than Chicxulub Impactor ..

I can't breath properly in this kind of situation, these informations are too absurd! No one will survive even a single soul! Not even a single person or animals or even trees! No one... Kapag natamaan nito ang ground ng earth it will surely open the crust and mantle layer of the planet because of its huge mass and impact, it will only leave Fire and lava all over the planet



Halos hindi ako makapag focus sa sinasabi ni Commander smith sa harapan, This asteroid is moving so fast, According to statistics it will hit the earth in 3 months! That's why we have to move faster.

"WE HAVE TO DO SOMETHING! WE HAVE TO MOVE NOW! The asteroid will hit the earth on October 13th 2053! And today is July 10, we only have 3 months" our commander shouted with full of frustrations ,nakasalalay dito ang buhay ng bilyong-bilyon na tao sa planeta.

"Commander, we have objectives here you know that! Just be calm! What is the sense of planing planetary defence technique if we're not going to use it? " nag tinginan ang lahat sa isang scientist sa harapan.

"I know that of course! But the size of this asteroid is not a joke! This is so huge! A normal size of an asteroid can kill millions of people! Imagine the damage this would cause Doctor Samson" hindi na ito sumagot pa.

"But we dont have any choice Commander" sabi ko, nag tinginan ang lahat sa akin kapag tapos ko mag salita, kasama na rito ang lalaking tumawag sa akin kanina sa Cafe, He just chuckled that makes me feel insulted.

"We have to do something to stop that asteroid,we have to take the risk! We have to move starting today and use that objectives-"

"We are aware that if we used all our objectives, The economy rate of the world will shut down, Astronaut Abella"

"I know that, But our main priority here is not money but life! We dont have any choice, we have to nuke that asteroid" walang sumabat ni isa sa usapan , nakatingin lamang si commander sa akin.

"This can't be the end of us, we can't let that happen." huminga ito ng malalim, halata sa mukha ng nga tao sa paligid ko ang pangamba sa maaring mangyari sa mundo.

"Okay, Let's move. NOW" sigaw ni Commander si Smith sa aming lahat, dali-daling nag si-alisan ang mga scientists ang nag punta ito sa kani-kanilang computer, ang mga astronomers and engineers naman ay nag punta sa laboratory to check some materials that we have to use for our objectives, kaming mga astronauts naman ay tutulong sa mga impleyado at maintenance ng NASA sa isasagawang unang objective.

Nuking the moon of that asteroid to change it's own rotation.



Apophis A has its own satellite which was called Apophis B, We've expected this problem of course that why we always have a plan, Our first objective is to redirect the moon of that asteroid, second is to change its rotation for about 73 seconds and lastly is to nuke its own moon and see if there are changes of its speed and direction.

For me thats a good idea,of course. If the rotation of Apophis B changed it will surely affect Apophis A, but there is a problem in this project, because of its huge mass, humans nuclear weapons are too weak and I dont think that the explosion will affect the the rotation of Apophis A, second is the asteroid is moving so fast and although we have technology we still can't control its own movement that leads us to the question,What if we missed? But we can't just wait here and do nothing, We have to try.

As of now, this is our only chance. If this plan did not work? I don't know what to do anymore, maybe we have to do something imposible..

Something that we never expect.
