Chapter 82: Section 6 - Mystical Crystals

Often, wand makers incorporate one or more mystical crystals into magic wands. Larger crystals are typically used as the wand's end cap, while smaller crystals are usually placed at the wand's tip. Sometimes, wand makers also place several tiny crystals around the wands handle. On very rare occasions, the entire handle of a wand is made from crystal rather than wood, although such wands are never as powerful as those with wooden handles as crystals focus rather than strengthen. Normally, transparent crystals are faceted and opaque crystals are ground into a cabochon (i.e., polished rather than cut so that they have convex tops and flat bottoms). Occasionally, crystals (especially clear quartz crystals) are used in their natural form.
