TGP: The Wedding

At the end of the spring, the well-known marriage of General Ren Shou and Lady Liam would take place.

One week before the wedding, the General household servants brought wagon after wagon in the De residence. Those almost-a-hundred of wagons was betrothal gifts from General Ren Shou to the De Residence. And witnesses said that those boxes contained the highest quality of silk, jewelry, best-crafted sculpture, renowned painting from practitioners, etc.

Three days before the marriage, a rumor was all around the Ren Empire that the General manor would give one tael of silver to the citizens to share God's blessings for General Ren Shou to marry a beauty like a lady Liam De.

Even though it would not bloom within three days, it was enough to put all the citizens to have a united mind to please General Ren Shou and his future wangfei.

It was a marriage that even little kids would know.

Liam walked carefully and stepped on once again to Ping Bi's back as she went into her palanquin. She could not see clearly everything since there was a red veil covering her head and hindering her view. It was really uncomfortable to not be able to see her way.

As soon as she sat on the couch, she immediately raised the veil to look at her surroundings. But a ruler slapped her hand lightly.

"Lady! Please behave!" Aunt Shao Mei was behind her. Beside Aunt Shao Mei was Xiao Mei, who was crying.

Liam had a glimpse of crying Xiao Mei. No matter how much she coaxed her, the little lady cried just got louder. Saying things how she was now a grown woman. Liam just sighed at this. Xiao Mei was going with her. But why was she crying so much that it felt like they would never see each other again? Xiao Mei was part of her dowry.

Then there were her parents too.

They visited her this early morning. Lady Lhi, Liam's mom, talked with her with puffy eyes and unlimited tears. But what gave her the headache was her father, who was saying non-stop that he would kill Ren Shou if Ren Shou breathed to her wrongly.

'Sigh. What a protective couple.' Liam was really amazed that she managed to be married out despite having parents like that.

She smiled while thinking about her biological parents as Liam, her grandparents who keep hugging her and holding her hand until she needed to dress up, the servants who were crying like the end of the world was nearing, thought and this old woman who acted strong but had been wiping tears secretly from time to time.

Liam felt warm inside. She felt that Liam was really fortunate to be born in De's residence and loved by everyone.

The palanquin stopped.

The bride and groom were led to the bridal chamber while the guest was treated to a feast.

But Amm Gu De was so stubborn that he kept Ren Shou in the banquet. Even Ren Shou wanted to go to the bridal chamber to meet his wife. His father-in-law wouldn't allow him.

It was not a problem for Liam as she ate the peeled grapes by Xiao Mei in the chamber.

However, Aunt Shao Mei furrowed her brows as it took longer than usual for Ren Shou to meet his wife. As Aunt Shao Mei was about to complain, an old woman arrived with two servants in tow.

This old woman looked strict as her raised brow never seem to come down. The maids behind her were holding two glasses and a bottle of wine.

The old woman bowed to Liam.

"Lady Ren, I am the head maid in the Ren Residence. I am Master Ren Shou's wet nurse. I came here to congratulate you. "

Liam nodded.

"I am happy to meet you, Auntie. Thank you for taking care of Ren Shou since young. Now I know why he grew up so handsomely. It was because of your meticulous care." Liam automatically turned on her glib tongue. This was the woman who would help her in managing the house. To have a good life here in the Ren Manor, she needs to befriend the leader here.

Aunt Min just smiled at her and gave words of blessing.

Xiao Mei, who saw Aunt Shao Mei's reaction earlier, inched forward to Aunt Shao Mei and whispered.

"Aunt, do you know what's that?"

Aunt Shao Mei just smiled in defeat.

"It's alright. They are husband and wife now. Lady Li is a grown woman. It's fine." Aunt Shao Mei said this instead. She seemed to be comforting herself more than Xiao Mei. Xiao Mei just looked confused at her.

Then the door opened.

Finally, the groom appeared.
