How to end a life.

The knife seems to have fallen into the child's chest, breaking a rib, puncturing it's right lung.

David stares for a second before getting back on his feet, deciding to run til' he can run no more.

After a few seconds of running, almost tripping on his own feet, The voice scolds him again.

[Go back and kill them you idiot!]

'A-are you insane?' 'I-I almost j-just died!' David replies. 'W-why would i want to k-kill them anways?' He can't help but ask.

[To get the Sp!] The voice responds.

[Did you think all those slaughter points just materialized themselves from thin air?!] [They're called slaughter points!]

[I figured you'd've figured this out by now!]

David stops and thinks for a spell. He turns around and looks back at the scene, his eyes know clearer, the dizziness having lightened.

He can see the child, now seeing that it is a girl, lying down on the ground clutching her chest in silence, her face contorting in pain, tears streaming out of her closed eyes as she struggles to breathe.

The presumed mother of the girl is moving towards her trying to keep in her own tears, comforting the girl before she looks at David in fear and anger.

David looks back, remorse present in his eyes, now struggling himself to keep his tears in.

'They're innocent people, people trying to survive, People! Just like me... What gives me the right?'

[You don't need a right. You need to survive.]

[This is no place for mercy.] The voice responds, coldly.

[Alot more people are going to be coming after you soon, people that you can't afford to let live.] The voice lectures.

[This is the only way for you to become strong enough to live.]

David looks at the child again for a few second before a single tear streams down his cheek as he readies his knife once again, the woman looking at him in horror before lunging at him.

*Stab*

...

...

...

[Congratulations!] [Skill {Stab} upgraded to level two.]

David lays down on his back after finishing, putting the two swords into his inventory before wrapping a bloodied strip of what used to be a shirt around his head to keep his jaw intact.

"Staduth!" He exclaims.

' Ah! Fuck that hurt...'

[Your tenacity is truly commendable. I thought for sure you were dead whe-]

'Please shut up...' David begs. The voice complies. David stares up into the sky and sees that there are clouds, denying him his reprive, as far as the eye can see.

He stares for half a minute before asking a question.

'Is there any way I can look at my skills?' David asks.

[Just press your finger on the screen.] The voice answers.

As he looks at his skills, not really learning much from it, he starts to wonder what he should do next.

'What should i buy' He asks the voice.

[Since you are going to be fighting against people in large groups, possibly with guns, i would recommend buying some sort of movement skill as well as a shield.]

[Those ballistic shields you humans made are pretty decent actually since they block bullets, which the other system members would have recommended to the humans who have killed.]

[You should also buy the knife mastery, a holster for your gun, some more ammunition and needle with some wire, to stitch your face back together.] David shudders before thinking of something else.

'Won't i get jumped again if I get another skill' David questions.

[The chances are very low.] The voice answers.

[The fact that you met those two when you did was already very unlikely, otherwise i wouldn't have given you the instructions.] The voice answers.

'I do still want to get to a safer place before i learn the skill though...' David thinks in concern.

'Maybe I should climb one of the trees?' He ponders. 'No I'll probably fall down when i get dizzy...'

'I should probably just try and stay standing and be vigilant.'

'I can't hide anywhere anyways with my name showing up above my head.'

"S-shuoghf" David struggles to say, buying the items that the voice recommended.

"I-Iventory!" David says after getting out of his stupor. He gets his gun, holster and ammunition out and places them on his body.

David, now done with the grueling task looks at the messages in anger.

"Fugkhing athhole." He mutters.

[Go kick a tree.] The voice suggests, raising David's concerns.

'...What?'

[Go kick a tree and try to get a kicking skill.] [Maybe you'll get something else useful too.] the voice clarifies.

'...Am i crazy thinking that he's kind of reasonable?' He asks himself in his mind, ripping some more clothes to strips, binding them around his right leg and foot then moving towards the nearest tree.

[Skill created: {Kick}.]

[Skill created: {Thick skin}.]

[You should try and climb it up and down too to get a climbing skill, could help you get a vantage point if there are too many attackers.]

*sigh*

[If you're already giving up-]

'It's not that.' David explains. 'I... I just can't get around the idea of killing people.'

'I-I don't know if i can or even should do it.'

His breathing starts to get heavier. 'I... I can't! I'm just so unsure!' He starts to pant. 'There is no way I can! I'm gonna d-die!' His breathing starts to get more frantic and tears form in his eyes. 'I-I'm gonna d-die and n-nobody will have ever l-loved me' He thinks desperately, every muscle in his body frozen in fear, his bones cold, as he helplessly holds on to the tree.

He unconditionally drops to his knees as he struggles to breathe, his esophagus as tight as the deepest depths of Krubera cave.

...

...

...

After about seven minutes of panting he manages to calm himself down a bit.

[Are you done?] The voice asks coldly.

'Yes. I'm sorry I let my insecurities out on you selfishly.' He admits.

[It's fine, better you get that out of your system before than during the battle.]

[Now get that climbing skill!]

"Aye- OH! AH!" He holds his hand up to his chin.

[...Are you actually this stupid?]

'...I'm afraid so...' He self deprecates.

[You're a human after all.] The voice tries to comfort.

'What's that supposed to mean!?'

David sits with his back to his insentient "training partner", relaxing his muscles which he just now realized are aching.

'How strong am I now compared to other humans.' He asks the voice.

[Compared to when you were on earth or now?]

'Back on earth.'

[There would be very few humans who could best you in unarmed combat, all of the ones who could've being dead.]

'...Seriously?'

[Yes. You're probably not the strongest of your species alive now though.]

'Huh...'

...

...

...

'Do you think I stand a chance to come out of this alive?'

[This game? Low chance. The ENTIRE game? A chance so low it might as well be 0.]

'...'

'Well that's encouraging...'

[I'm not gonna lie to you.]

[Your chance of survival so far has been slim but you've still made it here.]

[If you die now I'll at least say that it's been nice knowing you.]

'...' 'Thanks. For everything.' 'Even though you're a bit of an ass, I'll still respect you.'
