25. New Family ( Part-III )

So after both of them completed their little game, Shirogana-san then started the car to go to the cages as there was still time before lunch. We all kept our bags inside the car and sat. I suddenly felt it was unnecessary to go with them to the cages I can't just stick around and do nothing.

So I turned towards Shirogana-san and asked, "Oji-san can I go home instead of the cages."

Then all three of them suddenly turned their heads towards me and I felt a bit uneasy under their gazes. It was Shirogana-san who spoke, "Are you sure Rei? Even if you don't play there is no harm in coming with us to the cages."

I just nodded and said, "It's alright Oji-san ill go home and do something."

He just nodded in agreement and drove the car. After some time the car reached in front of the house and I got down. Shirogana-san rolled the window down and said, "Ok then Rei we will go to cages. Tell Narumi we will eat somewhere there and won't come for lunch."I nodded and waved my hand as they drove away.

I went towards the door after the car was out of sight. I rang the bell and the door opened almost immediately. I saw Narumi-san opening the door. She then said, "Oh Rei you guys are already back. Where are the others?"

"They went to the cages Narumi-san. They told me to tell you that they won't be coming for lunch."

"Oh ok, Rei. It will only be both of us for lunch come inside."

I went inside and closed the door behind. I went towards the hall and saw that there was some kind of drama being played, probably something Narumi-san was watching. I went out of the hall and went upstairs to take a bath as I was in sweat from the morning exercise under the hot sun outside. After taking a bath, I came down and we sat on the couch and saw the drama with Narumi-san. The Drama then ended without any of us even noticing. It was pretty interesting and captivating.

Narumi-san suddenly said, "Oh look at the time its already noon wait for sometime Rei I will go and prepare the food." turning towards me and standing up.

I then said standing up, "Let me also help Narumi-san. I also know a bit about cooking."

She looked a bit surprised hearing me cooking and said, "Are you sure Rei."

I just nodded and said, "Yes Narumi-san."

She nodded back and said, "Ok Rei I will allow but you should call me Oba-san from now onwards just like you call Shiro."

I nodded feeling a bit embarrassed and said, "I'll try"

She nodded and said, "Ok then let us go." and went towards the kitchen and I followed her. We both then started to cook. I mainly helped with cutting the vegetables and providing it to her. After cooking everything we kept it on the table and then started to eat.

While eating Narumi-san said, "I never knew you can help so much Rei. You are even better than Meiko."

Hearing her praise I felt my face burn up and I just nodded and said, "It's common for me as Otou-san used to not come somedays so I used to cook for myself Naru... Oba-san" She suddenly shot me a look when I was saying Narumi-san instead of Oba-san so I immediately corrected my sentence.

She just nodded and we but continued to eat in silence. After eating I helped her cleaning all the dishes and we both went back to the Hall.

I felt a bit tired so I said, " I will go and sleep for a bit Oba-san." She nodded and said, "Ok Rei go take some rest."

I nodded and went up to my room. I sat on my bed and took the photo frame of me and my dad. I just smiled a bit and kept it aside. I then slowly drifted off to sleep. I woke up after some hours and then saw the time and noticed it was evening. I stood up and felt all the fatigue washed away by the sleep. I washed my face and then went down.

I heard noises coming from the direction of the hall and understood that Shirogana-san and the others already returned. So I just slowly went towards the hall and saw they indeed came back and it also seemed that they came back just now. It seems like Meiko was complaining to her mom about what something which happened in the Cages.

Seeing me coming in Shirogana-san smiled and said, "Come on in Rei we just came back and do you feel good after the sleep". Hearing him I nodded and went and sat on a single couch and started to hear what Meiko was talking about.

Apparently when Meiko was batting in the cages some boys in her class were teasing her that she doesn't know how to hit properly and that both Sora and Shirogana-san said nothing about it. Shirogana-san then said trying to defend himself when Narumi-san was glaring at him, "It's alright Meiko. I left them alone so that you can get motivated hearing them talk like that. But you should not come like this and complain, instead you should show them they are wrong. Anyway it was not that you don't know how to bat it's just that you were not able to properly connect the despite your arm swing. If you do start connecting the ball the balls would go better."

Narumi-san then just nodded and said, "Yes what dad said is true you should be brave and you Shiro you should have helped her a bit." she said to Shirogana-san at last. They both just nodded and then continued to watch the movie on the tv.
