6. Training (2)

( REI POV )

So after dad had told us to go home we both started to slowly go back home. Then I turned towards Izumi and found him looking towards the sky. So I asked him, " Hey Izumi, why are you looking above?"

Izumi then replied, "I'm just thinking of the future and whether we will really be able to achieve our dream."

I smiled and said, "Definitely as Otou-san said as long as we are determined and don't lose our goal we will eventually reach it."

Izumi then looked towards me and smiled back and said, "Yes we will. So how was your training with Shirogana-san? Was it good?"

I replied back, "Oh! with Oji-san, It was awesome. He taught me all the basics and I think I was able to do fine for my first try. so how was your training with Otou-san."

He said, "It was good and even though it was tough in the beginning it eventually got easier to throw the ball correctly."

"Good cause if we both will continue with our work we would accomplish our goal."

"Yes we will" and by this time our house came near and we both went our separate ways. 

I then used the keys and entered inside and went to my room to take a quick bath as I was all sweaty from the practice. After taking a bath I noticed my dad came back and that he was waiting for me to eat dinner. I sat with him and started to eat my dinner along with him. After eating and washing the dishes I went back to my room and slept.

*FEW DAYS AFTER*

Today was Saturday and we could again go to the ground and practice more baseball so I woke up quickly and got ready to go to the ground. These few days after the last training session went by a breeze with school and homework so we had no time to play. Then I see my dad coming down the stairs all ready. He then went inside to prepare some breakfast. Then the doorbell rang and I saw my friend waiting. Izumi came in and sat down in the main room declining my father's request to have breakfast as he had it in his house.

Then I heard my dad saying, "Rei go and bring your baseball bat along with you."

I felt confused so I asked back, "Why Otou-san?"

"Today Shirogana can not make it as he has plans to go out with his family so you will start your batting practice today."

I felt sad and reluctantly went to bring my bat from my room. When I came back I noticed how my dad set everything on the table and was waiting for me.

He then just smiled noticing me depressed and said, "Don't be sad Shirogana can't come every week to teach you and now it's a good thing for you as you can start with your batting practice."

I understood and nodded my head and started to eat. After completing our breakfast we started to make our way towards the ground. When we reached it we saw a fair amount of people already there and we're playing. So we 3 went to one side. Dad then first came to me and showed me how to hold the bat and the proper stances and told me to swing while he went and taught Izumi. I then started to swing the bat at a medium pace and after a while, I switched my stances to a left-handed one and swung. Surprisingly I felt the same way too I felt when I tried the right-handed. So I continued to swing the bat for some time. Then I saw my dad coming towards me.

 After he came he said, " So kiddo care to explain why you shifted to left-handed."

I replied, "I wanted to try hope it felt and surprisingly there was no discomfort and it was the same for me."

My dad then exclaimed, "So kiddo you turns out you have potential to be a switch hitter there are not many people with such ability you know."

"What is that Otou-san."

"It is a person who can hit from both sides of the batter box."

Hearing him I got excited and I jumped around. Seeing me very happy my dad laughed and told, "Ok kiddo don't get too excited I came here to throw you some pitches to test out how you would do. So shall we get to it."

So I then nodded and said, "OK"
