Chapter 23: Almost time

A few weeks have passed by now.

I passed my test to graduate early and as expected I set a new all time record for highest score since they couldn't find an error with any of my answers for any of the 5 subjects.

I recieved an early copy of my diploma and certificate for early graduate of highest honors along with a recomendation from teachers to aid me with getting into whichever top school of my choice, which with my grades and family background probably wouldn't be too difficult anyways.

I also managed to finish up my dress design as well as one for Melody who is going to come over today to celebrate my birthday with me and then we will spend tomorrow getting all pampered and ready for the party that will be tomorrow night.

Today is my birthday, I am now 17 years old.

I didn't want the big party to be today since that is more business than fun.

Me and Melody haven't really had much time to hang out with her gigs and what not.

I also haven't seen a certain devil hanging around, which I won't admit that I kind of miss his presence.

Anyways, me and Melody have only been face timing and she knows about her dress, but I wanted to surprise her with the finished product tomorrow so despite her begging she will just have to wait.

Waiting for Melody to arrive, I finish putting a cute pajama set of shorts and a tank top that lavendar in color with a ruffle on the sleeve and bottoms and the put my fuzzy white slippers on as I look around my room to make sure everything is ready to go.

Netflix is ready, the chef brought up the snacks and treats, the drinks are laid out and I changed the bedding.

I am a little nervous.

Me and Melody have already hung out before, but this our first girls day kind of thing, I didn't really get to do this before, but honestly its crazy, we have only known eachother a short time, but I already consider her to be like my sister.

This makes me nervous because I don't want her to get hurt because of me, which furthers my motivation to keep getting stronger.

I haven't been skipping any of my training and I feel better each day.

When I look in the mirror I see more of a healthy glow instead of a weak sick paleness.

I shake out of my thoughts and run downstairs as I hear the doorbell ring.

I open the door and Melody comes bursting in hugging me as she hands her bag to the maid to put in my room and thanks her.

Melody is wearing a cute pink pajama set similar to mine with matching pink slippers and silk pink robe.

She likes pink.

After saying hello, I take her up to my room.

"Oh my gosh, your room is epic and food!" she says with a goofy smile as she eyes as the plate of nachos and mini cheese cakes.

"thank you and let's pick a movie and eat! I have been waiting for you!" I say with a smile.

We picked out the move 'A Cinderella Story,' which is a classic and start snacking as we talk mostly about Braxton.

After we are stuffed with food, Melody surprises me as she pulls a present out of her bag and hands it to me, "Happy birthday!" she exclaims!

I open the cute little box by pulling on the oversized bow and look inside to see a gold Tiffany's charm bracelet with my name on it a charm that says best friend.

Melody shows me her wrist with a matching one and says, "I thought these were perfect to officiate our friendship, I got myself a matching one, and I thought we could create a tradition to get eachother a new charm or something for holidays." she says talking really fast.

I hold back my happy tears and hug her, "I love it, thank you!"

Besides my grandfather and brother, I never had a friend give me something so special.

I hold it close to my heart as I put it on my wrist.

Melody beams at me seeing that I am truly happy with her gift.

Interrupting our moment, I hear a knock on my door and say, "Come in!"

The door opens to Hayden, Grandpa and the 3 other devils singing happy birthday to me with a big chocolate cake in Haydens hands.

I finally can't hold it in anymore as my tears spill out and Melody jumps in with the last part of the birthday song and Hayden holds my cake in front of me I blow out the candles wishing that we can always be this happy.

After eating cake, I finally glance at Colton who looks like he wants to eat me and then I blush remembering I am in my pajamas.

He pulls me aside when everyone is caught talking and hands me a little box similar to Melody's.

Opening it, my smile freezes as I see a dainty little gold necklace that has sun charm on it with some diamonds and I look at him confused.

He takes it out of the box and stands behind me as he helps me put it on and whispers, "I chose this for you because since the first moment I saw you outside the hospital, you have become my sunshine and my everything. You don't have to respond to my feelings now, but I will wait for you to be ready Serenity....Happy birthday!"

Hearing his words, I fight the urge to cry again and finger the necklace on my neck before turning around hugging him tight.

"Thank you Colton, I love this." I say with a big smile and kiss his cheek before running back to everyone else leaving him in a daze.

After that, hayden wanted to give me his present to, but said I had to wait for the morning which was hard, but I caved since he threatened to take it back when I started pouting.

Grandpa handed an envelope and told me I should open it after the party tomorrow when I am alone. I looked ar curiously before tucking it away in my desk drawer for safe keeping.

Braxton gave me a coupon to buy whatever I wanted in one of his clothing stores which could be dangerous for him because I love clothes and this store of his but he just smiles knowingly like he was forced and I thank him and give Melody a big hug since I know it wa her doing.

She looks at me with a proud smile as Luke hands me his present which is two free coupons for me and Melody to have a free day at their family beauty spa tomorrow.

Melody slapped his arm, "We were going to do it free anyways, you idiot."

I just roll my eyes and laugh at their sibling banter.

That night I actually had a peaceful night of sleep as I went to bed with a smile on my face and touching the sun necklace around my neck.

Tomorrow is a big day.
