A Sack?

The men who were here to cause trouble left after getting injured.

One was screaming for his neck, the other broke finger.

Moreover people from their houses started to look out at them, it was better to not expose their identity.

The volunteer team heaved a sigh of relief but they were worried for the girl.

"Are you alright senior," she came and asked, she has seen those men dragging him, in her view, this senior was a good person.

"I am fine but you should not have jumped in the danger, you don't know they can be bad people," he explained.

"Only bad people chase," she spoke to tell that she understand his concern an also that if they were chasing them and had bad intentions, they were already dangerous.

The senior patted her shoulder, "Let's distribute food packages," they start to off load the packs and then deliver to every house while senior was writing down the record of the house numbers.

They don't want to miss any house in this area, the old houses seemed waiting for this food.

The weather was dull and cold, the team separated into two teams to cover the streets as early as possible, this whole area needed food and time was short, if the food truck got empty, they have to go back and bring more.

Already those bunch of fellows wasted enough time.

Wu Lan walked, her footsteps got slower because she had a full time fight with four men, her impulse was getting slower and she had hard time to keep a stable walk.

She slightly hit a sack and jerked her head, she was in front a house now, the sack moved a bit and a head appeared.

She didn't notice and knocked on the door, a woman opened the door and places a small folded paper, something was wrapped inside.

The woman placed the paper at the side where sack was bringing out it's hand, the second volunteer who was standing beside Wu Lan got scared and jumped back.

"What is this?" he asked in horror.

"He is my husband," the woman answered and one could feel the pain in her voice.

"It is cold outside, why he is outside and bundled in the sack instead?" the volunteer asked with concern.

"My husband heard that the people who left the industrial area were suspected with the disease so he choose to stay outside of the house so that the family could be saved, he wanted to leave but I was not willing, I heard that people who are less infected can get better with time..." the woman started weeping, her tears were flowing like stream, she was worried for her husband and the cold outside.

Her voice got thick and she could not speak further, it feels like she was sobbing and trying her best to stop her tears.

The volunteer felt the pain the woman was going through.

Wu Lan saw the sack and the woman crying, she don't know why woman was crying, she saw the volunteer feel upset at her words.

But she can see that someone cared for his family to this much, she wanted to feel this care but could not, she stepped ahead and wiped the tears, she looked up at the sky, there was no rain, she felt the warmth of the water and shook her head, she was unable to feel anything other than the warmth.

"Wu Lan, you are caring," the volunteer who saw her wiping the tears spoke.

"Caring," she blankly asked.

"Yes, who could feel the pain of others and help them are caring," he told but it was pity that she could not feel anything, she cannot even tell the difference between rain and tears, for her it was water with different warmth level.

She don't want to tell that she feel nothing but she was moved by the words of the woman, if anything can be termed as caring then this sack was caring for his family to bear the cold.

She was numb to any feeling.

"Guys, move on we need to drive another truck soon so hurry," the senior voiced.

The volunteer reached his senior and told about the sack.

The senior came, if he follow his duty, he need to shift the man in the quarantine but the woman was unwilling, he thought to first care about the food supply and then take this man for test.

"I will take my husband for test," the woman said.

She don't want him to lost in the number of quarantine, she was not selfish but she cannot bear with it.

"It would be better, perhaps he is fine now and if this is proved through test, he no more needed to bear the cold outside," the senior spoke and patted his junior to hurry the task of distribution.

Wu Lan turned and swayed, she lost all her impulse during this conversation, "How many times I have to shake aside my jobs and come for your help," someone grabbed her in his arms and spoke.

The senior looked at the man.
