1. Returning From Prison

Standing in front of his rental house, Ling Tianyu was in disbelief when he looked through the door's gap. He felt as if a bomb exploded in his head at that moment.

He clenched his fists tightly as he watched and wondered, 'It has been eight years. I can't believe that I struck the culprit who paralyzed her little brother just to take revenge for him.'

'I even stabbed the people who kept bullying her parents, hence was sentenced to prison for eight years.'

'I endured everything, but are they treating me fairly now?'

Ling Tianyu could not stand it any longer. He kicked the door, then entered the house.

The sudden noise at the door shocked the two people inside.

Qin Tianyi was dumbfounded when she saw who it was.

"Oh, it's Ling Tianyu, your ex-boyfriend. I was just thinking who that was." The man in the room scorned when he realized who it was and quickly recalled that it was the day Ling Tianyu was released from prison.

The man thought to himself, 'It has been eight years, what a coincidence.'

'It doesn't matter. Since I'm already with Qin Tianyi for a long time, it doesn't matter if he knows now.'

"Tianyu, I…"

"Shut up!" Qin Tianyi was flustered as she did not know how to explain herself, but as soon as she uttered a word, Ling Tianyu cut her off.

"Is this what you meant by you'll wait for me?" Ling Tianyu threw his bag to the ground. He could not believe that this was his girlfriend who had been visiting him every month and claimed that she would wait for him no matter what.

She was slapping herself in the face!

"Alright. Since this is how it is now, I won't hide the truth from you anymore. I've had a new boyfriend for a long time, and we even got our marriage certificates last month. Here." Qin Tianyi knew that there was no way she could explain herself.

She simply showed him the marriage certificates so that he could take a good look at it.

Qin Tianyi felt that she should not be blamed for cheating on him. Back then, they were already eighteen-year-old university students. After being in prison for eight years, Ling Tianyu was now twenty-six years old and unlikely to have a bright future.

Ling Tianyu's face turned dark when he saw the red marriage certificates, and his eyes were full of killing intent.

"There's ten thousand dollars, take it." The man in the room retrieved a stack of notes from his back, then threw them at Ling Tianyu.

"Take it as an act of charity from me for the sake of my girlfriend."

Upon hearing that, Ling Tianyu was so furious that flames were going to burst from his eyes.

He could understand Qin Tianyi for finding another man because people constantly moved forward in life, but she actually got together with Chang Hong, the culprit who paralyzed her brother.

'Qin Tianyi, you're really something,' he said to himself.

"Tianyu, take it since you just came out." Qin Tianyi could not bear to watch him like that. After all, she clearly remembered everything that happened eight years ago, and she honestly wanted to wait for him, but reality stopped her from doing so.

Although Chang Hong paralyzed her younger brother, she realized that he was a nice man.

Moreover, what happened was a misunderstanding, thus Chang Hong paid for her younger brother's treatment overseas, which was successful.

Most importantly, her younger brother forgave Chang Hong, and her parents now lived comfortably. The outcome was favorable for all of them.

"Hu!"

Ling Tianyu breathed out deeply. He wanted very badly to slaughter the cheating couple, but his rationality steered him away. Eight years had passed, and he was not the hothead that he used to be.

Besides, Qin Tianyi was not worth it. In the end, he decided that what happened back then was a return for their love.

"Not enough? Here's another cheque of a hundred thousand for you." Seeing as Ling Tianyu was unmoved, Chang Hong wrote a cheque in a flash, then threw it to him too.

"Take it, these are enough for you to spend for a long time. Stop looking at me like I wronged you." Qin Tianyi was very dissatisfied with Ling Tianyu's attitude as there was no point for him to be on bad terms with money.

Even though Ling Tianyu was in prison for eight years because of her, the amount of money was enough to compensate him. Therefore, she was unhappy that he was not being grateful.

All of a sudden, Ling Tianyu smirked. 'Are they trying to dismiss me with money? Do they think that I'm lacking money?'

"Qin Tianyi, do you think that I'm disconnected from the world just because I was in prison for eight years? So much so that I can't afford to support myself?" He took a box of cigarettes out, then lit one up.

"Of course. Isn't that so?" Qin Tianyi ridiculed. "Do you know how much my husband earns monthly? It's a hundred thousand. What about you?

"Although you used to be a genius who made it to Haibei University of Technology by being the top student in the entire city, what can you do now that you're out of prison? You can only work for others, and will only earn a few thousand dollars a month."

"That's not even enough for you to buy me a bag. Quit acting, just take the money."

At last, Qin Tianyi showed her true colors. She was not going to do so, but she felt that Ling Tianyu was being too pretentious.

"Hubby, let's go." She later stood up, then twirled her hair before walking past Ling Tianyu while locking arms with Chang Hong.

"Oh right, you can stay in this broken house since you have nowhere to go, take it as something for you to commemorate the good times we had. At the end of the day, you did spend eight years of your youth with me." She looked at her ex-boyfriend pitifully.

"Hubby, you don't mind, right?" On the contrary, she looked at Chang Hong happily.

"I don't, why would I?" Chang Hong chuckled. "Ling Tianyu, I'll forget your previous offense since I'm a great man."

"But honestly speaking, this place is terrible. There's no air conditioning at all, it's sad that my baby had to endure this."

"Hubby, that's in the past." Qin Tianyi was displeased when she heard him talking about her past.

"I won't talk about it anymore, I won't talk about it anymore." Chang Hong quickly wrapped his arm around her and was ready to leave.

"Wait!" Ling Tianyu called out to them as soon as they took a step away.

"What the f*ck do you want?" Chang Hong was impatient. Though he was mad about Ling Tianyu earlier for ruining his pleasure time, he refrained from beating him up for the sake of Qin Tianyi.

'How dare he call out to me like that? Does he really think that I won't do anything to him?'

"Qin Tianyi, although taking eight years to find out who you really are isn't worth it, it's enough."

Subsequently, he lifted his bag, then poured stacks of notes on the ground.

They amounted to more than a million dollars!

Qin Tianyi was stupefied when she saw the money!
