Mortal-Grade Wooden Staff

Gin looked at the translucent screen hovering before him which displayed all kinds of Martial skills and weapons that one dream to obtain.

He didn't rush to select a martial skill but checked the different types of weapons available first. He knows how important a weapon is to Martial cultivators, that's why he needs to choose a weapon for himself.

Just daggers and Knives aren't enough. For example, his battle with Fiend Hadeon – if he had a better weapon, he could have surely killed his opponent.

Against weapon users, he can't fight with plain Fist.

There are a lot of weapons listed on the screen, some of which he hasn't seen before; a weapon built using magical beast horns, a sword with a flexible and whip-like blade, and many interesting weapons.

After searching for a few minutes, Gin cast a look at a particular weapon – a Staff or to be more precise, a Wooden Pole. Yes, the weapon he selected was simply made of wood without any metals or elements.

He liked the weapon for its simplicity without designs or engravings. The wooden staff was as tall as him, golden brownish and polished or more like varnished.

"Why is this wooden staff placed among mortal-grade weapons, isn't it just plain wood?" Gin inquired, curious.

"It's not your ordinary wooden staff made from some roadside tree. It was carved from a tree called DiamondOak which can only be cut by Transcendent beings.

Even with sharpest weapons, no beings below the transcendent level can cut it; not in their lifetime."

"Won't it decompose after a certain time?" Gin asked, still doubtful.

"No, it was soaked in a special resin which prevents the natural decomposition. You can say this weapon is even better than other weapons made by high-level forgers."

"Then, I choose this wooden staff."

"Good choice, staff weapon is tailor-made for physique cultivators like you. It doesn't demand mastery of weapon intent, just to display your complete strength.

Most of the contestants have completed their trial, you have to hurry so that you don't arouse other participants suspicion." The middle-aged man reminded.

Gin quickly narrowed his search to Staff type Martial skills and picked a one with a title that made some sense — 108 stances of wooden staff.

"I choose this,"

The middle-aged man directly imprinted the martial skill into his mind. As for his wooden staff and other things, he kept them in the storage ring which was generously gifted by the middle-aged man.

"Is there anything else?"

"No,"

"In the future, the inheritance ground needs your help. If you're willing to lend a helping hand, come back once you break through to the Seal destruction stage." The middle-aged man suddenly spoke.

Gin agreed since he accepted the inheritance, he will try his best to help if it is within his ability.

"I will send you back now," The middle-aged man said and snapped his fingers.

Gin's consciousness returned to his body, when he opened his eyes he found himself standing before the 7-feet pillar.

His sharp senses caught many prying eyes gazing at him but when he lifted his head and glanced at everyone, they avoided.

Some were envious that Gin was able to persist for than 20 mins inside the trial space, while some sent a hostile and resentful look like Adrin.

Gin ignored them and walked towards the spot where Luna, Shaun, and others like Feal, Tish, Dia stood.

"Gin, what skill did you choose? What about your weapon?" Luna ran towards him and questioned, more excited than himself as if she was a child; she was one though.

"I selected a Physique cultivation manual and this weapon." Gin smiled and showed his wooden staff which materialized in his hands.

"A wooden staff, What kind of scrappy weapon is this?" Luna asked while Shaun who stood by her side also thought the same. 'How powerful a wood can be?'

"Little girl, it may look simple but it's a mortal-grade weapon. Why don't you try cutting it with your sword?"

"Don't call me a little girl, I am a fully grown-up lady," said Luna, shoving some of the bangs behind her ear.

Her appearance didn't match her words: her head reaching Gin's shoulder, baby face with a rosy tint, and above all, her voice which sounded like 12-year-olds.

Many youths overheard the conversation with their sharp ears, hearing Gin only chose a Physique cultivation manual and noticing the wooden weapon they lost their interest.

"You won't blame me if I broke your staff accidentally, right?" Luna spoke.

"I won't,"

"Good!" Luna drew her sword and gave a heavy slash. Gin held the staff in his hands, welcomed the slash without moving an inch.

There was thud sound but Luna's slash didn't even leave any mark on the staff's surface, which amazed everyone, including Gin.

"It's a sturdy one," Luna hummed.

"How did you guys perform?" Gin asked others, putting the weapon back in his storage ring.

"Snort, I was only able to persist for 15 minutes. If it isn't for that masked man's strength constantly improving as time passed, I could have lasted for more than 20 minutes." Luna pouted, feeling aggrieved.

If she endured for five more minutes, she would have gotten a transcended grade technique and mortal-grade weapon.

"I too couldn't defeat the masked guy when his strength rose to 11 seal level and was only able to persist for 17 minutes. He's a terrifying opponent." Shaun said.

As for Feal, Trish, and Dia, they couldn't get past the 10-minute range. Even so, they are happy about the high-grade technique and martial skill which matched perfectly well with their spirit seal.

"It's okay, we will have more opportunities in the future." Gin said and asked Shaun, "What technique did you choose, did you find any Physique cultivation technique?"

Shaun beamed in glee while he answered, "Yes! Now I am confident of breaking through the seal opening stage in a month. Coming to this ruin is the best decision I have ever made."

"Good for you!" Gin showed a thumbs-up sign.

"Is someone still in the trial space?" Gin asked, noting the middle-aged man hasn't sent them out yet.

"Yes, it's Duanoz. You know him, he's the one who was climbing first in the gravity mountain.

Apart from him and the other two youths, you are the fourth and last person who persisted for more than 20 minutes inside the trial space." Shaun explained, Gin understood.

At that moment, the noises of other peoples attracted their attention.

"It's Duanoz. He completed his trial and even persisted for more than 30 minutes. He's truly a prodigy." A young girl commented with an envious and sparkling expression.

"Of course, he is. He's the pride of our Fiery Sun domain. Don't try your tricks on him girl, he won't even spare you a glance." Her friend who hails from the Fiery Sun domain chided.

As soon as Duanoz finished his trial, the voice once again sounded in everyone's ears.

"Everyone has completed their trials. Be prepared, you will be transferred out within a few seconds."

Ten seconds later, all of them felt their heads go blank and in the next second, they are in a different place — outside the ruin entrance, before the grand canyon.

Nearly 90,000 youths suddenly appeared before the ruin entrance; the youths who participated in the trials and others who were unable to cross past the gravity mountain.

Gin stood in the crowd, besides Luna and Shaun. They were welcomed by a strange sight, the entire place was razed to the ground while there were many traces of fierce battle.

The surrounding temperature was very hot, as sweat automatically drenched their backs and faces. Everyone also sensed this dark, sinister, and ominous aura lingering in the air.

"What are the Human Union's Suns and Moons doing here?" Shaun suddenly spoke, gazing in a particular direction.

"Even the experts of Fiend Hunter alliance are here! I guess they came to stop the Fiends from invading the ruin but failed to do it." Luna fearlessly commented.

Gin also sensed the experts who all exuded a powerful presence. Even though he doesn't know about Fiend Hunter Alliance, he heard about the Suns and Moons of the Human Union. All of them are powerful experts in the Seal Destruction stage.

"The battle between them should have been overwhelming!" Gin commented, observing the marks of battle.

"They are out!" An expert cried.

"Thank god, most of them are safe." Another one let out a sigh of relief.

At that moment, Gin heard Zhyho's voice from the distance.

"Search for that brat named Gin, he's definitely here among the crowd. Find him at all cost, don't let him slip away. Master Mesryth will arrive in a few minutes." Zhyho commanded the other representatives.

Gin knows they are searching for him, various plans and ideas came to his mind. He suddenly gazed at the direction where Human Unions Suns and Moons rested, replenishing their lost energy.

The Battle which occurred half an hour back fatigued them greatly.
