Yu Chen answered as she sat down with her laptop, "There's a hacking competition going on."
Sam slumped on the couch beside her and said, "You're still participating in those things?"
Yu Chen: "I had nothing to do. Plus, I need some money."
Sam peeped at her laptop, "How much is the price?"
Yu Chen: "5000 yen."
Sam: "Pfft. That's so less. I can lend you more than that."
Yu Chen: "Anyone can. But I don't like taking other people's money. Besides, like I told you, I had nothing better to do."
Sam: "Come on, with your skills, it's bound to be boring. How about doing something else? Something fun?"
Yu Chen: *still not looking away from her laptop* "You know what's fun? Shutting up."
Sam: *Sulking* "You're cruel."
Yu Chen: "There's that laptop in my room which you gave me. Go, play with it."
Sam mumbled, "I'm not a kid you know." But he still got up and walked towards Chen's room and a minute later, walked out with the laptop.
Sam said as he switched it on, "Say Chen. Why aren't you hacking with this one? It's performance is bound to be better, it's newer than this one." He pointed at the laptop Chen was using.
Yu Chen: "I don't use that one for hacking?"
Sam: "Why?"
Chen: "Too easily traceable. This, on the other hand, is a custom made laptop by one of my friends. Hardly traceable. Besides, the performance is just about the same. This one was made very ahead of it's time."
Sam: "I would really like to meet this friend of yours."
Chen's fingers stopped as she sat rigid for a moment before her fingers recommenced the dance across the keyboard, "One day maybe."
Sam furrowed his brows at this vague answer but said nothing.
Yu Chen finally looked up from her laptop after three hours and stretched.
Sam looked up from the game he was do intently playing, "5000 yen?"
"Yeah." Yu Chen mumbled as she walked to the kitchen with Sam following her.
"Say, you want lunch?" Yu Chen asked as she opened the fridge.
Sam was delighted, "You're cooking?"
Yu Chen chuckled as she tossed some ingredients on the counter, "Who else? You can't expect me to let you handle a knife or fire."
Sam's ears turned pink as he changed the topic, "Isn't this a little too much for two people? How hungry are you?"
Yu Chen turned around surprised, "I'm not cooking only for two people. It's for five."
Sam: "Five?"
Chen: "Xia, me, you, Hua and Zenghai."
Sam smiled in acknowledgement. Though he said nothing, Sam did not miss the fact that Chen said Si Xia first.
He again changed the topic, "What are you making?"
Chen: "Dumplings."
Sam: "Oh, shrimp dumplings?" He knew that shrimp dumplings were Chen's favourite and she would never miss a chance to eat them.
Yu Chen shook her head, "Hua is allergic to shrimp. I think I'm gonna make egg and pork dumplings. Xia loves them."
Sam said under his breath, "Of course you're making them if Si Xia loves them."
Luckily, Yu Chen did not hear as she buzzed about in the kitchen.
