The next day, Yu Chen packed her bag and first went to visit Hua at the hospital.
She stayed for about half an hour before going to the bus stop and arriving at her parents' home.
Yu Chen quite enjoyed her one day stay there.
During the day, she roamer around the while village with Mian, reminiscing about their childhood.
During dinner, her mother had prepared a feast. As Chen ate, she said, "Oh god. Mom you're such a great cook. If Zenghai and Kio were to taste this, they would probably think that they had died and gone to heaven."
The whole family laughed and enjoyed dinner together. Though her mother was still pretending to be mad, she gave Chen a bunch of hand-knitted stuff.
She said, "Hmpf, you're not going to listen to me anyways. And I heard it's quite cold in London. So take these."
Yu Mian immediately jumped and grabbed hold of the stuff. She said, "Mom, do you realise how uncool sis would look if she wore these things in London? And besides, this is too big!!!" She held a sweater in her hands, which would be able to cover Chen's thighs.
Before her mother could reply, Chen snatched the sweater from Mian and pulled it on. She said, "You will never understand, mom knows I like wearing oversized clothes. Thanks mom. It's so pretty and warm and comfortable." Chen went to hug her mother who let out a laugh. "Okay okay. Stop kissing my ass. Your father wanted to talk to you upstairs."
Yu Chen snatched another sweater, two caps and a pair of gloves from Mian's hands and put them in her bag before going to her father's room.
Yu Chen knocked and her father's voice came, "Come in."
She went in and Mr. Yu motioned her to sit.
He began, "Chen, you already know that we are not rich. Your mother and I work really hard to earn just enough to be able to support your children's education. And that is when your tuition is completely free."
Chen said, "Dad, don't worry. In London, the college is provided me with free tuition along with free hostels. And as for everything else, I will just take on a part-time job."
Mr. Yu: "You are such a sensible child. I knew you would have it all figured out. But, that's not what I wanted to talk to you about."
Yu Chen was confused, "It's not?"
Mr. Yu took out a packet. He said, "Chen, your mother and I have been saving this up for your marriage. But we now believe that if you can get a good education, you will be able to take care of that on your own. So, there you go."
Yu Chen opened the packet and looked inside. She was shocked as she looked up at her father. Yu Chen said, "Dad, there's got to be thousands of Yuan in here."
Mr. Yu: "17 thousand, to be precise. We started putting one thousand each year after you were born."
Yu Chen pushed the packet back to her father, "Dad, it's too much. I can't take it."
Mr. Yu: "Take it. It was yours to begin with. "
"But dad, I can't walk around carrying so much cash." Yu Chen was still stubborn.
