8. Joining a club (1)

Jay, after his morning routine, went to school early.

Upon arriving, he saw some posters posted by some clubs, showing who are the elected club officers and still having their recruitment. He also saw a poster with the list of the members of the Student Council, the highest students' group in the school.

As he was about to proceed to the classroom, a girl with long black hair and a pretty face showed up in front of him.

The girl is Crystal Montario.

"Uhm, hello, I am Crystal Montario, pleased to meet you", the girl timidly greeted while extending her flawless hand, attempting to hand shake with Jay.

Jay was surprised. He didn't expect this so-called prettiest girl to greet him and even tried to shake hands with him? Goodness! Never in his life did he met with such encounter.

Trying not to be rude, Jay also extended his right hand to return the greeting.

"Uhmmm, nice to meet you Crystal, I am Jay Elra. Is something up?" Jay slowly spoke.

"Actually.... uhmmm... I am a member of the Literature club, and the club has the fewest members in all, and... and....uhmm... The president of the club and some of the older members feared that due to the club having a very few members for the past three years, the school may remove the Literature club. That means that the club has the possibility to be disbanded. So all of the members are trying now to recruit some students who didn't belong to any clubs. So uhmm, I .... I..... want to....."

In the end, probably due to her shyness, she can't speak the words she wants to say.

"So you mean to say, you want to recruit me also?" Jay suddenly asked.

Crystal shaked upon hearing him.

"Yes, uhmm.., I looked up to the lists of some first year students who didn't join any club, and all of them rejected me, and you are the last one I can ask. I hope and wish you will....you will uhmmm.... you will join our club. Please?"

Hearing this, Jay almost want to spit right in front of her and walk away. But he controlled himself and maintained his calm, but deep inside him, he is making a decision.

Also, seeing her face which looks like she is in a great despair, he can't help but pity the girl.

'She probably tried her best yesterday and this morning to talk to some students. Hearing her say that her efforts are wasted, that means that I am her last hope?'

Jay is surprisingly thinking about the matter.

'I wonder what will happen when I am gonna turn her down?'

'Shit!! Why am I even thinking of this? Shouldn't I just say no?'

Jay looked again at her. Crystal is still quiet, her head hanging low. The two of them didn't even noticed that some students are looking at them curiosly, wondering what are the two of them talking, Bren is one of the onlookers.

In Crystal's mind, she even concluded that the boy in front of her will be like the others, who will surely turn down the club. But she was greatly surprised when he heard Jay speak.

"Okay fine, I'm gonna join your club", Jay simply said while sighing.

Crystal couldn't believe her ears, but she heard him clearly. It seems that for her, all her efforts are paid off.

What happened next caught Jay off guard.

Crystal hugged him tight!!!

When Crystal realized what happened, she broke free from the embrace.

'Oh my, this is embarrassing.'

All the other students who saw them had their mouths wide opened. Bren who also saw it, was more surprised.

"Damn, did Jay got confessed to by Crystal, and he said yes that is why she hugged him? Damn it, Jay sure is lucky!" Bren blurted out loud that some his classmates who are beside him heard what he said and even agreed with him.

"Thanks Jay, I am truly grateful, and sorry, I didn't mean to do that, but thank you. The club will have a meeting after lunch so come to the literature club room for the orientation. Thanks again", she hurriedly said and ran away, clearly embarrassed.

Jay was left behind, his cheeks red because of the hug he felt. Jay clearly felt her body pressed tightly against his, which is a shock to him.

'Well, whatever, I'll just join that club and see what happens'.

Jay moved and saw few of the students still looking at him. He understood that it is probably because of what Crystal had done.

'Well, that embrace was actually good'.

Thinking of it, Jay elicited a small smile, then disappeared shortly.

But Bren still noticed it and slapped his own face, did he see wrong?
