Christmas Day.
The four has packed their bags after breakfast to prepare for their short flight to Melbourne. The two ladies are excited. Jenna arranged for a stay in a private house offered for short term rent online. Its located in the suburbs. She also got a rent a car so either Mark or Tim can drive on their road trips.
In their road trip to the Great Ocean Road, they stopped in one of the open beach areas where there are few people. They decided this is a good stop to enjoy the sun and water.
Sitting on the sand together as the guys unload the heavy stuff from the car, "can you go back home by February?"
"Well I can arrange for it. Why?" Pam has not mentioned to Jenna that she is moving back to Singapore in six months and is planning to work back home.
"We are planning to have our civil wedding on February 2."
"Oh My God! Did he pop the question again? When did this happen? When did he propose?" Pam was beaming with happiness for her friend.
Showing her right hand with the engagement ring on it, "Well there is no such kind of thing. Few months ago, he spoke about marrying me, but I was not ready I told you. I don't know whether I can spend my life with a playboy like Mark. You know, our relationship started in bed. I don't want to be in a one sided love affair, so I don't have expectations if it's just casual relationship."
Pam hugged her from the side, "Jenna..." She knows that Jenna was attracted to Mark since the first time they met. However, at that time Mark is a carefree guy. He had a lot of those one-night stand and was on flings. Jenna was one of those girls that can be considered his fling. No wonder she has no expectations at all. Who knows they keep bumping on each other warming each other's bed. Despite being liberated, Jenna was not necessarily having sex with random guys. Mark was the only exception like his on and off boyfriend if he can be considered a boyfriend.
"Even if he asked me to marry him, I am honestly not sure. I don't want a broken family. I don't like growing up in one, so I wish not to have one. I don't know if he casually ask me to marry him.
"But he asked you to live with him…so you guys are practically like husband and wife already."
"Yeah that is true. But I keep on thinking we cannot have kids in that situation. Who knows if one day he leaves me."
"You must have been the one Jenna. Yes, I do have that impression of Mark, but I believe he loves you!"
"I have gone this far. I'd be 30 in few months. He never asked me again about the marriage and I thought maybe I am being greedy. It's just a piece of paper. Last night I don't know, he declared we have to be married it's a statement not a question and gave me this ring." She touched the ring with smile on her face.
"At Least you can officially claim the title Mrs. Biggs. I am happy for you Jenna."
"Just like you flash marriage with Tim, I want you guys to be our witness."
"Of course! I will be there."
The two guys were enjoying their beers from not so far away. Just like the ladies they are having a fair share of good conversation.
"Is everything settled bro?" Tim asked after a nice sip of his beer. A cold beer is best for summer.
"I did not even ask and just put on the ring. I have always taken her as my wife since we lived together. You know I never let anyone in my room."
"Really?" Tim was mocking him. He knows this guy. Even after so many hook ups and few relationships, he never brought a single lady in his apartment. One way to look at it is that it keeps you detach from any relationship that can go wrong later. No stalking or girls chasing him at his doorsteps.
Mark gave him a light punch on his arms. "I am lot better than you! Pam must be blinded. Girls come and go in your room! Does Pam know?"
"Give it a try man!" Guilty as he is when he was younger every opportunity to bring a girlfriend in his dorm or room, Tim would grab. High School and college life was like that in the US. When he started working he realized how dangerous girls can be when they start to be clingy and attached. Since then he became more cautious especially when he traveled and got assigned on foreign countries. Other than Pam, Lissy was the last girlfriend he is able to bring in his pad.
"Marriage is just a paper and I thought that it is the security that I can give to Jenna. You know its superficial, but I guess I also need this to secure her. I can't let her be unhappy and leave me one day.
"So when are you having the wedding."
"She doesn't want to have the fancy ceremony. Maybe she has asked Pam already to be in business district by February 2. We are having civil wedding and you two are the witnesses."
"I'll think about it."
"Then I will tell your wife your love history."
"Fuck you! Remember you could have lost Jenna with your EQ and I helped you think through it"
"I don't care you bring your wife on the day of our wedding."
"Seriously, it's good to settle down with the one you love. Congratulations bro!"
Mark offered his can for a cheers, "you are my idol!"
They spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the beach and stories. Pam could never be happier having spent this day with her sister from another mother and Tim's best friend. It's not frequent that your best friend marries your husband's best friend. Maybe later on their kids will be friends with each other. How good is that? Kids…will she ever get to have a baby normally? This is not the right time to worry about this. She will definitely be present on Jenna's big day.
Something big is coming up in next coming chapters. Let me know what you think is it. Please leave a comment.
