Chapter 39 – No Plans to Make Someone Unhappy

The group enjoyed light moment before starting the meeting, Pam being the focus of topic. A follow up comment is made, "Skinny may look good on clothes and on TV but your boyfriend may not enjoy hugging you Pam."

There was laughter in the room. Pam gamely replied, "Fortunately I don't have plans of making someone unhappy with bones but dogs." She winked at Jim following their discussion last time.

"Ms Cruz is smart and pretty, I would love to have the dog in the family chase you," one of the older members of the committee butted in. The old man looked tenderly at Pam. He would love to have a daughter in law like Pam.

"I feel flattered Sir with that." Pam blushed a little with the compliments.

"This is the first time I feel like being a dog." Vince joined the fun. This caused Pam to continue blushing. Vince is getting a little bold in his hints this time. Its not like she is not aware, but she wants him to shut down the idea.

Everybody laughed poking fun here in there about Pam. On the side, Tim was observing. He as initially surprised of the meaning behind the 'no plans of making someone unhappy'. His face slightly darkened hearing Vince joined the conversation, trying to offer himself. He brushed the idea in his head. Why would he be concerned about it… he is engaged.

When the meeting concluded, Pam once more felt something twitching in her abdomen. During the meeting whenever she faces Tim, his eyes appears to be prying on her. Having the nightmare recently, she is paranoid.

On the way to the project war room, she sent Jenna a message.

Pam: When are you back?

She only gets to receive response after couple of minutes.

Jenna: In two days' time. Why? What's up

Pam: Let's talk when you are back. I got favors to ask <smiley emoji>

Jenna: I can clearly see the 's' LOL

Pam: You are my elder sister now, you can't refuse.

Jenna: See you Pammie!

Pammie, this name. The pretense she was wearing is slowly crumbling as she reached her seat. The entire meeting has consumed her, trying to put up a strong and normal front to everyone. Pam doesn't know how long she can keep up seeing Tim. She is dreading for the project to complete and hope the guilt and loneliness will stop.

Meantime on Tim's office, "Are you leaving for Shanghai again?" When Lissy returned Tim was hoping details of engagement in Xin Technologies will be handled by someone else. At least she could focus on other areas of the business though the Xin Technologies can be considered one of the biggest wins for the year.

"Honey, I am trying to get the other contract signed for the Taiwan site of Xin Technologies. You know the headquarters play a big role."

"Go for the win Honey." In the end Tim can only support Lissy. Getting the Taiwan contract will be another win for Meridian and subsequently for NextGen in general. He just proposed to Lissy and has promised to support her.

"Its just going to be a week. I'd be back soon," she assured Tim.

When Tim finished talking to Lissy, the sight of Pam flashed in him. Before he was adamant to know why Pam seemingly dumped him. Now he is curious what happened, he could not deny that seeing Pam he is still concerned. He is getting conflicting signs and signals about her. At the very least he wanted her to be fine and happy just like him.

This is the same thing that Jenna is feeling right now. She went to an extended trip coming from business trip to enjoy some time with Mark in Japan. She is transiting in this country and might as well spend some quality time with him. She is likewise concerned.

"I need to spend some time with Pam when I am back." Jenna informed Mark of her plans. Ever since there has been mutual acknowledgement of their relationship, they sleep together whether its at Jenna's or Mark's place. This declaration means Mark would spend some time alone.

"It's fine," he kissed Jenna on her cheeks. "We see each other when you are done with your business with Pam. She needs company."

Jenna must give credit to how considerate Mark has been. If it was before, he would be insisting on getting some time to provide each other's 'needs.' They had been very compatible in bed which started this. She then whispered, "I drop by if there is time.' She ended the statement with soft bite in his ears.

Mark is too white for Jenna with her natural brown skin. There is beautiful contrast when they are together. With such naughty gesture from Jenna, Mark's ear turned very red.

"Getting playful babe." Mark looks at Jenna mischievously. "I don't mind getting touchy in public." Mark warned her ready for an attack.

"STOP! I mind!" Jenna squinted her eyes. She quickly changed the topic as she see that playful look from Mark. She does not want to take chance. He could be shameless.

"We might be visiting hospital."

"Why is Pam sick? Does Tim knows?"

"The answer is double no!" She sneered at Mark, "and why does the great Mr. Connor need to know? He is engaged why would he care?"

"Hey don't mock him. He truly loved Pam. Your friend chose to leave. It's not fair."

While this is true, Jenna could not help but feel a little angry since Pam is her friend. "Fine! Fine its her decision. It is her bad luck to have met Tim. Now she plans of getting her egg cells collected and frozen for future."

"What?" Mark is surprised even thought this is nothing new to him. "Is she seriously not planning to get a new man?"

"No. If I were her, I will not waste money to get my egg cells frozen. I will spend time finding someone to procreate."

"What do you mean find someone." Mark's face darkened.

"I said if I were her! In her situation. I will not waste my time with some guys who doesn't like me. I will enjoy the process and find a good man."

"You only allowed to enjoy the process with me."

Jenna burst into laughter; she finds him cute. "So, you better behave! You know what I am thinking." Without further ado she initiated a kiss on his lips. Who would have thought that they can be silly and sweet this way? They started as fling. If only the same happened to Tim and Pam they could be two couples best friends with each other.
