They're pillows

Wan Jia shook off her ridiculous thoughts of jealousy and switched on the television. A new film was being aired, about a teenage girl who made wrong decisions that ended up ruining her life because her parents never had time for her. Suddenly, it reminded her of her parents.

Who on earth dumps their daughter in the middle of nowhere without even explaining anything? They had said she was not their daughter but whose daughter was she? Why didn't they at least give her some information? Were they on bad terms with her real parents?

While thinking about this, Wanjia didn't know when she fell asleep.

Lu Aotian returned home at 11 pm and was surprised to see Wan Jia sprawled on the sofa, asleep. He initially wanted to wake her up but changed his mind when he got close to her. She looked so cute as she closed her eyes obediently, just like an innocent newborn baby. Her cheeks looked so soft that he wanted to place a kiss on them. Her cute innocent sleeping face could compel one to give up all he had just to watch her sleep.

He couldn't bring himself to wake her up and carried her instead. When that light, soft and fragrant body melted into his arms, Lu Aotian's heart was filled with so much warmth and sweetness that he really wished for the trip to her room to last forever. He put her into bed gently and covered her when she suddenly clutched his shirt.

"Mother..."

Mother?

"Father...don't go..."

She shook her head and knitted her brows sadly.

"Wanwan will be good. Please don't go?"

She sounded so pitiful....

Just as he was pondering whether to wake her up, tears started rolling down her face. His heart hurt so much seeing her cry....he reached out to embrace her. Wan Jia cried in his embrace and sobbed sadly.

"You won't go right, right?" she asked among sobs. "Please, promise me you won't leave again, father,mother....Wanwan promises to be a good girl forever." When Lu Aotian did not speak...she became even sadder and cried harder.

Lu Aotian's mind was however filled with one name-Wanwan.

Wanwan? Was that her nickname? How come he had never heard about it? Besides, her father was supposedly leaving her?...and her mother too? How strange. Or was it just a nightmare? But her sadness was so real.... suddenly he remembered something. Yun Xuan was adopted!

Now it made sense. Perhaps her parents had died when she was little and before then her name was Wanwan, then it was changed to Yun Xuan by the Yun family when they took her in?

Lu Aotian relaxed as he thought about this. It was indeed a logical explanation. So maybe she just has this nightmare that's in real sense a memory of her childhood?

He hugged her tighter and patted her back to console her. He felt as if someone was squeezing his heart when he thought of how she had been probably haunted by this dream all her life.

"Xuanxuan," He called out softly. This was the first time he had called her so intimately. The little woman in his arms suddenly woke up and looked a little dazed finding herself in Lu Aotian's arms. She shyly let go of his shirt as she looked at the mess she had created on his chest with her tears.

"Go to sleep." Lu Aotian said softly as he tucked her in, interrupting whatever she wanted to say.

"Don't go..." she suddenly said and held his arm when he stood to leave. Even she didn't understand why she said that and she bit her lip in embarassment.

"Scared of being alone?" Lu Aotian asked in a very concerned tone. After all, he had just witnessed her fear a moment ago. Wait, is it because of that nightmare that she was scared of her room? He had noticed her uneasiness when he first showed it to her but hadn't taken it to heart. Now that he thought about it, it was quite possible.

Wan Jia nodded without looking him in the eye.

"Then I'll sleep here." He said while pointing at the sofa a few steps away from her bed.

Wan Jia was a little disapponted. No, a lot disappointed. She wanted him to sleep on the bed, not the sofa! But wouldn't it sound too odd if she directly invited him to the bed?

Looking at the sofa length, she had a brilliant idea.

"But you're so tall you won't be comfortable on the sofa." her face burned red as she said this.

"So you're saying...." He raised an eyebrow teasingly at her embarassed appearance. He obviously didn't miss the slight passion in her eyes either.

"Let me sleep on the sofa instead."

" How can I let my delicate little wife sleep on the uncomfortable sofa?" his tone was disdainful.

"And how can I let my tall husband sleep on the sofa?" She retaliated.

"Then..."

"Then let's both sleep on the bed." She interrupted him. Lu Aotian was stunned. Did she just say sleep on the bed? Heavens knew how much he had been waiting to hear that! What a golden chance...He instantly went to his room, took a shower at a remarkable speed and returned only to find a few pillows lined up in the middle of the bed, from top to bottom.

"What are these?" He asked with knitted eyebrows.

"Can't you see? They're pillows."

"Of course they're pillows. Why are they here?" His tone was slightly cold.

"If we have them between us, then we won't disturb each other's sleep. Who knows if I have bad sleeping habits, what if I kick you in my sleep..." her voice grew thinner and thinner as she spoke till ot became so thin her last words sounded like an inaudible whisper.

"How about we remove them?" He said in a slightly whisper as he swept all four of them to the floor in one fell swoop.

So he knew to get rid of them. Amazing my Aotian! Wan Jia was just about to smile when her smile was interrupted by a pair of warm lips, followed by a hand behind her neck and another pushing her slightly propped body back down.
