"Y-you heard her. She wants to investigate this Duan Mi." The man turned his head around and glanced at the nonchalant God who was sitting leisurely on his throne with a leg crossed. His whole existence was shining brilliantly, causing the man to gulp down a mouthful of saliva as he envied him in silence.
Jun Yihan let out an icy chuckle, causing shivers to run down the poor man's spine. His cold eyes flickered as he swirled the wine glass in his hand. "Just do as she says." He remarked while shooting a dangerous glance towards the terrified man, "Yuan Xuegang, I assume you have not forgotten my words."
Yuan Xuegang felt cold sweat drenching his back as he gulped down another mouthful of saliva. Not only his legs were trembling, but his whole body was too. His instinct of survival had emphasized to never offend Jun Yihan if he still wanted to live. "N-no, I definitely haven't, Young Master Jun. How could I ever..."
"Good. You may leave now."
When Yuan Xuegang heard him, he half ran out from Jun Yihan's study room, dashed into his bedroom and hid under the blanket with his laptop. He immediately started to work on what Bai Ruoxi had requested despite his uncontrollable heartbeat and shaking hands.
As he moved his fingers on the keyboard, he started to reminisce about the past. Yuan Xuegang pressed his lips into a thin line as a feeling of regret filled his chest.
Yuan Xuegang was Bai Ruoxi's classmate in high school. Back then, they were both the troublemakers and were infamous for their mischievous deeds. The school was powerless against them as one was the young miss of an influential family and the other was an exceptionally excellent student.
One day, Bai Ruoxi took notice of his outstanding hacking skills and started to have him work on various things. Yuan Xuegang needed the money, so as long as he was paid, he didn't mind. It all started with a small wifi password and their teachers' computers. Then, Bai Ruoxi wanted him to do some background investigations on a few people. Now, he could create dangerous viruses, malware and even obtain all sort of documents that even the governments couldn't get their hands on.
Of course, even though he was greatly proud of his ability, it was also the sole reason why he'd been living in confinement for years. He knew too much and needed to escape the eyes of those who wanted his life.
When Jun Yihan found out that Bai Ruoxi had always been relying on this person for pieces of information, he decided to give Yuan Xuegang a hand. Jun Yihan granted him a place to live under his roof and protection, in return, he just had to report to him whatever Bai Ruoxi asked for and keep his mouth shut.
At first, Yuan Xuegang thought that there wasn't any loss for him anyway, so why not?
However, Yuan Xuegang was now considered a member of House of The Azure Dragon. He held access to their confidential documents and top tier secrets. How could he have any freedom left?
Although it wasn't anything like being prohibited from stepping outside nor getting threatened by Jun Yihan, he still lived his life in fear. Yuan Xuegang was a wanted person in the underworld due to his hacking skills, and the Jun Family protected him well. They could be regarded as his benefactors, yet he couldn't shake off this feeling of regret.
His regret was entering this world in which he should have never even stepped a foot into.
If only he didn't have these pair of hands and this so-called skills, wouldn't he be living like a normal person?
Yuan Xuegang sighed and shook his head, chasing away these useless thoughts. Anyway, it's no use to cry over spilled milk.
Bai Ruoxi was his dear friend who had helped him a great deal and Jun Yihan was his benefactor. He couldn't possibly let down these two people.
But seriously, what itched him the most was how Jun Yihan could become so obsessed with her to the point that it's scary. Yuan Xuegang could only silently feel relief that Gu Yin was no longer around. If he was, who knew what sort of things Jun Yihan would do just to get rid of that man...
Yuan Xuegang shuddered, "Let's not think about it."
After a few minutes of working, he finally got ahold of what Bai Ruoxi asked for. Yuan Xuegang knitted his forehead as he looked at the numbers in Duan Mi's account. "A starlet couldn't possibly be earning this much right?"
Yuan Xuegang decided to look into it deeper and spent a good two hours on his laptop under the blanket. After he completed everything thoroughly, he ran back towards Jun Yihan's study room. When he arrived, Jun Fengmian had just gotten out with a look of extreme grief plastered on his face. It was as though he had suffered great injustice.
Yuan Xuegang nodded his head when Jun Fengmian glanced his way. The former wanted to walk past and enter the room, but the latter immediately grabbed his hand and cried out, "You mustn't enter! You mustn't enter! Sire will eat you whole!"
Yuan Xuegang stared at Jun Fengmian in confusion and felt his lips twitched. He really needed to salute this person's bravery. To loudly scream that kind of nonsense right in front of Jun Yihan's study room, who else would dare except him?
"S-Steward Jun," Yuan Xuegang called out awkwardly. Why the hell did this whole family have to bear the surname Jun? "I need to talk about some matter to Young Master Jun..."
"No good, no good! Sire is in a bad mood, you'll suffocate to death once you enter!" Jun Fengmian sincerely wanted to advise Yuan Xuegang, it's just that his method was a bit... bizarre. "Unless it's about Miss Bai, he won't listen!"
"Jun Fengmian!"
A roar coming from the inside of the room immediately silenced the two men as they glanced at each other warily.
Yuan Xuegang started to tremble in fear again. His body had already turned the other way, ready to leave, when he remembered something.
"Steward Jun, I'm indeed here to talk about Ruoxi to Young Master Jun." Yuan Xuegang said with a smug look on his face.
He was here to talk about Bai Ruoxi! What was there to fear?!
