The time had finally come for the skeleton to enter the pillar, but it was not as hostile as it seemed. Moving through the barrier was as easy as swinging his sword, with no resistance whatsoever. Atlas followed Demiurge to a ruined location stopping in the center of a small flat area, with no debris in it. The skeleton stopped abruptly as Demiurge halted his pace.
"The Pleiades are on time." The devil spoke.
The remaining members of the Pleiades appeared from behind some of the destroyed buildings, with identical blue mask to the one that Demiurge was wearing.
"Are the masks fitting well?" Demiurge asked.
"Yes, they seem to fit perfectly." One of the Pleiades spoke.
"Very good. Ainz' dream is within our grasp, we mustn't fail!"
"Our next task will be to fight in a grand battle with Momon (Ainz), and secure his glory!"
Demiurge turned back towards Atlas, gesturing his hand to invite Atlas to move closer.
"Your task is rather fun. I have organised a reunion, you will lead a predetermined force to halt the Re-Estize soldiers as they inevitably march towards our position. In doing so, you ensure that the battle plays out smoothly and that your position as the strongest demon General will be feared throughout the land. And just remember, your fame is important, Ainz-sama will eventually battle you to increase his reputation yet again; so make sure to show the kingdom your strength."
"I will do so with pride!" Atlas announced as he knelt down.
"Before you leave, I have been conducting some research on the will of skeletons. It would be best that you reform your armour, it is far surpassed by your skills and weapons" Demiurge instructed.
"Very well, I will as you say."
Atlas incinerated his armour without a word, leaving only an empty skeleton behind. Atlas stretched out his body, preparing to form a new set of armour.
"A skeleton's will is what they use in combat. That is why skeletons sometimes wake up with swords when they were just peasants." Demiurge spoke.
Atlas began to feel a nice breeze as a cold set of black plate armour formed on his body. This set of plate armour felt much lighter as it was much more efficient like the skeleton's will. The feeling of cold metal felt natural yet confidence inspiring.
"We have heard about those Pillars that you made in the Reserve Tomb, you have been promoted to the 1st Inner Pillar by the request of Ainz-sama. Use the total well, it is time to display your worth to the world."
With those words, Demiurge inspired a fire within the skeleton, making the latter feel a sense of pride that he had never felt before. Atlas stood up and left to a designated location; the main entry point of the Re-Estize forces.
The skeleton travelled with haste, encountering many allied devils along the way. He eventually reached a large street filled with an army of armoured figures, but none of them were human.
"BROTHER! WE FINALLY MEET AGAIN!" A heavily armoured golden figure shouted.
Atlas moved closer to find that this figure was not just an ally, but a close friend, his dear brother.
"Brother Doorman, I see that the tomb's forces has grown tremendously powerful under your guidance." Atlas spoke.
Atlas moved in closer to give a nice hug to his brother, and then moving a step away to speak.
"Brothers, I will be commanding this operation. Our mission is to halt any human advance at all costs! Our lord, Ainz Ooal Gown, has given us this grand quest; so do not fail! We are the prideful brothers of the Reserve Tomb!"
"All Outer Pillars! Command your subordinates into box formations, we will crush the enemy forces by using a creeping volley!" Atlas announced.
"Since we are not effected by arrows, we will have all of our marksman brothers stay at the back and launch endless volleys of death while the vanguard rush into the enemy numbers!"
"Such a genius idea! Brother, you must have learnt so much in your time outside of the tomb!" Legere shouted.
"Inner Pillars, Do not let a single hero class warrior leave this place alive." Atlas instructed in a more forceful tone.
"Yes, Brother, no humans whatsoever will leave this position." Doorman responded.
Atlas raised his arms into a 'Y' shape, ready to draw more attention to his next words.
"Brothers, Do you remember the days that each one of you awoke?" Atlas asked.
"In those dark days we were lost, but guidance would come from our senior brothers. The many brothers that have gathered here today may still remember the worker raid. The warriors that fought there did not let a single human escape, none. This was because of our collective responsibilities in working to surpass ourselves, in doing this, we were able to build what we have today. So why do I speak of this now?"
"YOU ARE WEAK! ONLY 15 BROTHERS HAVE MADE IT TO 40TH LEVEL! WHAT HAVE YOU BEEN DOING IN THE TIME THAT WAS GIVEN TO YOU ALL? YOU WERE NURTURED, SO WHY ARE YOU NOT STRONGER? I HAVE AWAKENED NEW BROTHERS THAT ARE ALREADY STRONGER THAN THE 1ST OUTER PILLAR!"
"HAS THE PEACE THAT WAS BESTOWED BY OUR GREAT LORD AINZ MADE YOU WEAK? AM I TALKING TO BROTHERS?"
Atlas stopped his announcement, turning to Doorman.
"The younger generation do not have the same zeal that we possessed back in our time." Doorman explained.
"They are content with training to become standard, by they do not have as much motivation to strive."
"I can't believe this. I am satisfied with the state of our eldest warriors, but these younger brothers...they barely qualify even with this well crafted plan."
"Nevertheless, we will still achieve the flawless victory that I intended to for. The weakest Pillars will be at the furthest stretch of our defensive line, the strongest are to be positioned more towards the center, make sure that you bring glory to Nazarick. Perhaps the Supreme Ones will forgive you if you do well enough."
