Life After Graduation

Waking up from my nap inside my best friends car, I looked with sleepy eyes as we passed the campus that would become our school and home for the next couple of years. We were beginning our college life as Freshman. I was blessed to be with my best friend, Yuuna, ever since middle school. She is still and always will be my best friend forever.

"Hmm... Morning sleepy... You nervous? "

Nodding lightly as I gently opened and closed my eyes while sitting up in my seat. We both had applied and were accepted to the same University as we were heading to the dorms as we were in the process of settling in. Our new room was in this campus and just the idea thrilled me even more than I already was. Stopping the car in the student parking lot, Yuuna parked the car and began unpacking our things from the trunk.

Lending a hand, we unloaded our things we left the car to take our things up together. I chose to wait for her as I was afraid of talking or even confronting our new roommates. After a little while of standing in the cold, Yuuna noticed my trembling legs and stopped as she then covered me with her leather coat and wrapped her warm red scarf around the blue one I had around my neck

"There… if you are still cold, I'll buy you something from the vending machine once we go inside. "

Taking more than I could carry as my mind was in a haze, she smiled and lifted my weight as we went inside.

Going up the elevator, we walked along the hall and stopped as Yuuna was the only one who had visited the dorm since before getting a key. Stopping in front of a blue door, she took out the key and opened it as we headed inside.

"Yuuna... Shouldn't we knock… "

Smiling, she said it was fine as our new roommates were expecting us. Walking behind Yuuna as I hid from our roomates, we found them playfully laughing while they were on top of one another, wrestling. Starstruck by the sight, Yuuna casually greeted them and then stepped aside so they could see me. In that instant, one of the girls slapped the other as they both stared at me with such an uneasy gaze. I then felt a cold shiver roll up and down my spine. Pushing forward, I proceeded in making my first impression.

"H-hi... I-Im Anya... Anya Mokira... Nice t-to meet you…"

After that, I hid behind Yuuna as the two girls abruptly got up and came after me with such an intense gaze. They were then stopped cold when they were met with Yuuna's, overwhelming bloodlust. Stopping to rethink their intentions, they sat down and softly introduced themselves.

"I'm Azel Nakima... "

"Jenko Jinmiro... You can call me JJ. "

Peering over Yuuna, I nodded as they gasped from only seeing my nod. After a while, Yuuna began unpacking as I stood beside her to help. Being essentially useless as I didn't know who's stuff belonged to who, Yuuna surprised me when she stopped me from opening a strangle black box.

"Wait! Not this, its my important stash… I mean, I keep my thoughts in here from when I was a kid… you know… its just, it's important. "

Nodding in accordance to the tense situation, I sat down softly as she gasped a breath after seeing my soft and saddened expression.

"Hmm… Fine! I'll show you after we are done unpacking… Deal? "

Nodding intently with a bright smile, she cleared her throat as we continued unpacking.

After a while, Azel and JJ both climbed into bed and shut off the light from their side of the room. Yuuna and me finished up and then made our beds as she preferred the top bunk. Knowing full well I was afraid of heights, I couldn't help but smile as I always looked up to Yuuna and her caring heart. While she dealt with the beds, I went to take a bath. Suddenly realizing after walking out to get my shampoo that I put my guard down, the other two attempted to catch me when Yuuna had her guard lowered.

A sudden turn full of fear and confusion, I watched as two pairs of lewd hands came towards my towel from the light of the bathroom. Just as I was about to scream, Yuuna came to my rescue as she came up behind them and drew them back into the darkness of the room. Concerned for several minutes, Yuuna emerged from the dark in a black tank top and underwear, she handed me my shampoo with a smile. Taking it as she patted my head, I went to take a nice long bath.

After the bath, I opened the door to see a sudden flash of a dragon keeping two lewd tigers at bay. Yuuna had guarded the door to keep Azel and JJ from getting any funny ideas.

I took a step out as Yuuna quickly took my hand and closed the door to the bathroom. After the wrath of the steem in the bathroom put me to sleep, Yuuna carried me to my bed as I doze in and out from sleep while being set in my bed with Yunna beside me.

I woke up the next morning and in my usual routine, I got up to brush my teeth and got ready for school. Closing the bathroom mirror, before I could shout for Yuuna to come and save me, Azel and JJ had managed to get their hands on me. Helpless as they fought over who got to hold me first, Yuuna showed up as my knight in shining armor as she cracked her knuckles and punished Azel and JJ.

After changing, I grabbed my things and we set out to class. Walking out into the massive courtyard, Yuuna and me wandered around for an hour until reaching the main campus. There, we walked up the steps and made our way through the halls and stopped infront of my class. Yuuna then made sure I had my phone with me in order to call her if I was ever in any trouble. Afterwards, I headed into the large room as Yuuna wished me good luck. Walking into the large room, I found a few open seats near the back and sat down.

Preparing my things, I sat through class as I paid attention closely and wrote down every bit of information down in my notebook. However, when the clock finally set to signal the end of class, I stood up and slipped out from the back as where I came in from was crowded.  

Once out, I began walking through the halls and went into the restrooms. Afterwards, I washed up and as I left the restrooms, an unexpected crowd of people had gathered along the halls. Focusing my attention into my notes, I made my way in the opposite direction until I was swept along with a crowd of people. I lost my focus and bumped into the center of the commotion.

My small size and fragile body caused me to fall backwards as my bag and notebook fell out of my hands. Looking up, I immediately apologized and froze as the girl who was looking down at me was absolutely stunning. Snapping out of my trance, I looked away and reached for my notebook. She then beat me to it and as she looked at the cover, I politely asked for it back. Flipping through the pages, she didn't seem to have any intention of giving it back as her gaze sharply turned to mine.

Taking a step forward, I subconsciously backed away and flinched as drew closer. Suddenly, as the beautiful girl was about to take her next step and speak, Yuuna's back filled my view as she took my notebook from her hands and gave it back to me as she stared down the pretty girl.

"Y-Yuu..."

As I helplessly gazed at Yuuna's, rage filled face, my heart began to flutter uncontrollably. I felt my face blush as Yuuna told the girl off on my behalf. Yuuna then threatened the girl to never come near me again or she'd make her pay. Grabbing my bag as the girl looked over Yuuna's shoulder and stared at me, she laughed as she agreed. Simultaneous gasps as I retreated into Yuunas back came from all around. I felt my hands shake as everyone's eyes were all on me. It made me feel self conscious and uneasy.

Leaving as Yuuna held my hand and took me away, my chest was still beating even after we got back to the dorms. I only stared into space as Yuuna's bittersweet scent of cherry blossoms from my favorite bottle of shampoo, reached my nose as she passed me by in a heated state.

Not long after our lunch break began, we left the dorm as Yuuna left me at a bench beside the the science building to get us something to drink. Lost in my notebook, I began memorizing and engraving everything important into my head.

"Hmm… English literature sure looks complicated… "

Turning my gaze as I touched the cheek of random girl, I jumped back onto the floor. The pretty girl picked up my notebook on the bench and read over the notes as if she knew then better than I did.

"H-hello… Um, w-who are you? "

Lifting her eyes to mine, she smiled and spoke beautifully.

"Daniela V. Kallden. A second year in Viella University… At your service… Anya Mokira. "

Gulping my spit, I sat up and asked her how she knew my name.

"Well, the university enlists the aid of skilled programmers such as myself to secure the security network and have the students saftey in mind… In other words, it gives me access to the school's wealth of information. Including personal information, thus, your name. "

Yuuna then appeared suddenly as she stood between me and Daniela.

"You must be… Yuuna Raven… Huh? What a pretty name. "

"Who are you?! "

Yuuna was growing impatient as she stared at Daniela like she did with the other girl.

"Okay! I'll take my leave as I know when I am not wanted… However, Anya… You are hereby be under the protection of the Kallden name from now on. Have a nice day… hmm!

She then left as Yuuna turned and checked me for any scratches or bruises. Exhausting a gasp of relief, it became apparent that all this stress was not good for Yuunas health as she was still recovering from her motorcycle accident last winter.

"Let's head to the dorms and eat there, Yuuna. "

As I grabbed her shoulder, she let me help her to the dorm and as we arrived, Azel and JJ were still out for lunch. Resting Yuuna in the bed, I went to the small fridge and grabbed an ice pack for her shoulder.

"Thanks, Anya… Ugh… who was that chick. What did she want? "

"I don't know… but she looked friendly. Maybe-"

Resting her finger softly on my lips, Yuuna opened her eyes as she told me all she had to by a single glance.

"Something's clearly not right… You're being targeted too often. I don't think it's a good idea for me to leave you alone for the rest of the day, Anya. "

As Yuuna suddenly swayed to the side, I caught her and felt her skin as it was burning in my hands. Laying her down, I left to buy medicine at the convenience store down the road from campus.

On my way back, I was greeted by the same, stunning girl I bumped into earlier today. As she stood, three other girls suddenly surrounded me as they took me somewhere else. As I obediently walked, one of the girls got a phone call and in that instance, I ran while making my way to the dorms. Stopping at an intersection, I turned into an alleyway and saw the girls were close. Determined to get back to Yuuna, I built up speed and climbed the side of the wall as I held the bag of medicine in my mouth.

Once over, I scaled the large fence while bruising my shoulder and rushed back to the campus as I reached the dorms.

Closing the door and preparing the medicine, I sat Yuuna up and handed her the medicine gently as she drank. Afterwards, I left and came back to tend to her fever. Skipping class to look after Yuuna, night eventually came and as I woke up, Azel and JJ left a note beside me as I was covered in a warm blanket.

[Left for clubbing… Be back late… ]

Amazed they didn't do anything to me, I looked over to Yuuna as she was sleeping ever so soundly. Changing her wet rag, I was happy when she opens her eyes.

"Yuuna… "

"What happened… "

As she tried to sit up, I helped her and as I explained she had a fever, she began coughing as it was still too soon to call her cured. Laying her back down, I rested my head a she softly inhaled and exhaled slow, gentle breaths. I suddenly found myself falling asleep and by the time I woke up, I was beside Yuuna in bed as she covered me with the same blanket.

Staring at her radiant, soft pressed lips and long eyelashes, I lightly smiled as I was content in that moment. Running my hand through her hair as I cleared it behind her ear, she moved gently and stopped as I continued admiring her as she was sleeping. Snuggling into the pillow, I felt my eyes grow heavy as I was tired from the long day. Closing my eyes softly as I kept my gaze on Yuuna, I spoke and promised to protect her as she had always protected me over the years.

Suddenly, her eyes shined brilliantly in the moonlight as I saw the soft smile on Yuunas face.

"I know... "
