Cram

After we got back to the temple I close the door with an awkward smile in place. After the door was shut I quickly lock it and turn to look at Chip. Chip just shrugs again before saying "Why do you keep looking at me? I already told you I didn't understand humans, what makes you think I'd understand them?"

I sigh and shake my head "Never mind. I need to hurry." I say as I find the spot I left off at. Chip lays back down by the door to keep watch as I lose myself in the text. As I've said before, this world was made of magic, or at least it used to be but now it was dead.

The few remaining left begin creating the symbols of "life" to help fight against the dying world. So water, air, and earth were created. Each one giving life to the dead world but they wouldn't last forever. They needed to be renewed after so many years.

I sit back and think of the state this world has gotten to and wonder why it's gotten so bad. Why hasn't any of them done something to change it? But shortly after I had my answer... Only those who weren't affected by the virus could use the gift of the text.

Now it's starting to make sense. I look up to see that it's day time so I push up and walk to the door. "Come with me Chip." Chip looks at me with confusion but he quickly follows. I unlock the door and walk out but what surprises me is the amount of dead mutated animals at the doorstep.

"What the..." I say stepping back as Chip looks around me to see. "Are they bringing their Mistress food? Cat's do this for their owners you know." Chip says with all seriousness. I look at him to see if he really was serious and when I find that he is, I don't know whether to laugh or cry.

"Mistress's guard is correct. You've been here for five days and we haven't seen you eat." The Crawler says from the shade of the dead tree. I give an awkward smile as I say "I appreciate it but I have food. Please share these amongst yourselves."

The Creatures eyes light up with joy as it's long tongue comes out to lick it's cracked lips "Mistress is indeed kind." I walk past the dead creatures and into the clearing. I look around and figure this would be a good spot.

I squat down but frown when I look at my hand. I lift my hand out to Chip and say "Use your claw to cut my hand open again. It's healed too much." Chip backs up looking at me like I have two heads. "I'm not going to hurt you, Maya. That goes against everything that I am."

I frown again... he's right. "Sorry..." I mumble before I stand up and pull my necklace off. I flick the necklace and watch it grow. The creatures in the trees all flinch and look on in shock. I grab the tip and pull just a bit, easily cutting my hand again.

Yeah, it stings a bit but the blade is so sharp it makes a clean cut making it less painful. I squeeze my hand and let the blood drip down my hand and to my finger. The creatures lean forward in anticipation. I crouch down and write the symbol for earth.

The blood on my hand dripping on the ground seems to be sucked up as the symbol begins glowing a golden color. Suddenly lush green grass begins sprouting and growing. At first, the growth is slow but then it suddenly takes off.

The grass continues to spread and when it reaches the trees they begin to come back to life. The leaves begin growing, flowers begin blooming and it just keeps going. "Wow..." I say watching in awe but then frown when I think about air. How was I supposed to do that one?

I look at my bloody hand and look up. Chip and the creatures look up as well, trying to figure out what I was looking at. The symbol for air was simple... So maybe... I fling my hand in the air as I quickly draw out the smooth arch of the symbol. My eyes grow wide when the symbol glows and I fly back from the large gust of air that follows.
