The merging was coming to nearly an end when it suddenly stopped.

I didn't see any reason; it had just stopped.

Seeing that, my heart couldn't help but skip a bear. For the past one hour and sixteen minutes, the merging had been going well.

Aside from the increasing pain, there was no other problem, but now it had stopped. 

It immediately made me worried. 

Anyone in my place had been worried because it was a bad sign. Over 40% of the breakthrough failed once the merging stopped mid-way.

As the merging never resumes and they die a painful death.

I may not be able to see or feel much, but I could still tell. It had stopped because of the forbidden power.

Right, I feel like. I shouldn't have chased the limit in forbidden power and should have kept it at moderate, as some of the books have suggested.
