After Xia Meilin left the room, Lu Yifeng opened his eyes. He stared at the ceiling with a lot of thoughts in his mind. He had heard what she said earlier since he woke up by the time she entered the room. It was like fate wanted him to hear the sharp words that Xia Meilin spouted earlier.
He felt as though there was this hole in his chest and this invisible hand, wringing his heart and ripping it to shreds after he heard her words.
How could he make things right with her? Back then, he didn't believe in love at first sight but it happened to him. Although instead of love, he told himself that he was just attracted to her.
What made him endure the pain that her grandparents brought him was because he believed that it was his responsibility to make up for his mistakes. Despite being a man who brought terror to others, he was actually a pretty decent person... as long as no one tried to get on his bad side.
Did he regret his actions that night? No, he didn't. He wasn't apologizing for his actions that night. Little Melon wouldn't come into this world if that didn't happen. He might even lose the opportunity to know a woman like Xia Meilin that was why he was somehow glad that he wasn't brought back to the night that he shared with her or else, knowing that she was drugged, he wouldn't be able to force himself on touching her, after all, he knew that if he did, he would only give her a horrible experience. He already promised that he would make things right with her so he would have brought her to the hospital instead if he went back to that night.
Though, if that night didn't happen, he could have met Xia Meilin in a different situation instead and that wouldn't guarantee him that she would still be single since he has known that she has another man in her heart. She was always waiting for that man to come back that's why, she would never even give him a look.
The reason why he apologized to her was for hurting her and for bringing pain to her because of what happened that night. He regretted using his money as compensation when he can just offer her his body. He should have stayed that night and accepted her anger when she woke up.
The truth about that night wasn't known yet. They both didn't know that the reason why Lu Yifeng couldn't stop himself from touching her was because of the smoke of the incense that he inhaled in that room. The incense stimulated Lu Yifeng's body and it had soon made him lose control.
Without knowing the truth about it, Lu Yifeng could only blame himself for not being able to control his manly desires that night.
He regretted not searching for her the following days even when his mind was full of her. He should have been by her side when she gave birth to their son. He may have been the source of her nightmare but he wanted above anything to prove to her that he could also replace the nightmare that he gave her.
Now that he has her, he would not let her go. He didn't care if she would continue to push him away, he would continue to pursue her no matter what. He promised to himself that he would never hurt her again. In this lifetime, until the next, she would only be the woman for him.
Because of his firm resolution, even if he would have a hard time redeeming himself, he would be patient. He would never allow his temper to get ahead of himself. Aside from that, nothing good would come in forcing her to accept him; that's why he was willing to take one step at a time just to be with her.
Why was he this stubborn? Because he just loved her that much. He wanted to be with her, to hold her in his arms. There was something that pulled him to her... Was it the red strings of fate that pulled them together?
----
Little Melon woke up early in the morning and saw Xia Meilin's sleeping face. He smiled upon seeing that his mother kept her promise. Since his mother was there, was his father there too?
He turned his body and faced the other side only to see it empty. The smile on his face disappeared when he didn't see his father. He sat down and patted Xia Meilin's cheek lightly. "Momma, momma, where's dada?"
Since she arrived late that night, Xia Meilin was still sleepy. She groaned sleepily before she wrapped her arms around Little Melon's chest. "Hnnn... Who's your daddy?"
Little Melon puffed out his cheeks cutely as he saw his mother bury her face on his side. "Dada is Mello's Dada!"
There was no response from Xia Meilin since she went back to sleep.
"Mommmaaaaa." Little Melon tried to wake her up again by shaking her.
"Babbbbyyy... Let your mommy sleep some more..." This time she covered her head with a pillow.
But just like his parents, Little Melon was stubborn. He would not stop until he would know where his father was.
Xia Meilin finally gave in to Little Melon, she took her phone and dialed Lu Yifeng's number instead. "Here, talk to him, not me." And after that, she turned her back to her son and continued sleeping.
Little Melon pouted but when the call got in, Little Melon's eyes brightened up.
"Hello?" A woman's voice from the other line was heard.
The excited look on Little Melon's face faded and it was instantly replaced with a frown. That was not his father's voice. "You're not my dada."
"Dada?" The woman was caught off guard when she heard a child's voice. She suddenly remembered the news that she saw about Lu Yifeng and Xia Meilin.
"Mello wants to talk to dada!"
"Sorry, he's asleep." The woman said, the tone of her voice sounded annoyed..
Little Melon pouted, "Then who are you, auntie? Why are you with dada?"
'Auntie'? She frowned. She was still young! "Oh me? It's just normal for me to be here since I am your father's lover.
