Check Up

After breakfast the men went to the study to discuss something while both Han Meixiu and Madam Liu stayed in the veranda near the living room.

They were having their tea time together. It seemed already ages since the last time they enjoyed tea together.

When the two settled down, Madam Liu knew it's the time to ask the young woman her questions.

"How is your menstrual period dear?"

The teacup that Han Meixiu just lifted suddenly stopped mid air. She looked at the older woman with a confused expression.

There was a hint of excitement on Madam Liu's face as she waited for her answer.

"Fine, I think?"

"Fine, as in you had it recently? Like after marriage?" The older woman asked further.

"Uhmm.. Well, Mommy Yi.. I don't actually have regular period." She answered before she sipped a small amount of tea.

"What? Have you seen a doctor?"

'This kind of situation isn't really good' Madam Liu thought when she heard her answer.

Han Meixiu simply hook her head. For her, not having a regular period wasn't really a big issue. She remembered how her best friend Li Xioazhi would turn upside down once a month because of the pain from having a period, she's actually quite thankful she didn't have to experience it regularly.

"Then we should see one as soon as possible." Madam Liu worriedly suggested when she saw how nonchalant Han Meixiu about it.

"But Mommy Yi, it's not really a big deal. Maybe I'm just stress or I just have hormonal imbalance. It will be fine in the future..."

Her words were subtly cut by Madam Liu.

"No. Though it's not usually a problem but in some cases there could be an underlying health complications." She explained. Her maternal heart felt compassionate as she observed the young woman. Not having a mother to at least worry for her somewhat made her old heart ache.

Looking at her Mommy Yi's eyes that were covered with so much gentleness and sympathy, Han Meixiu felt that a warmth feeling enveloped her heart. Though she didn't know why the older woman somewhat became like that, deep inside she was incredibly touched. She felt a motherly love that has been long gone from her life.

She remembered the first time she had her period. Her bed were covered with blood and she thought that she peed when she woke up that morning. Her shocked multiplied by hundred folds when she saw the blood. She almost thought someone stabbed her while she was asleep but she didn't feel pain in any part of her body except from her lower abdomen though it was only faint.

She woke up her best friend that time who was still in pain as it was her first day of monthly period. Li Xioazhi gave her necessary things to use and warned her that she would also have painful days every time she'll have it.

There was also a short conversation that followed afterwards when she suggested to take a pain reliever medicine if Li Xioazhi really felt extreme pain. But her best friend said, though it helped to lessen the pain, in the long run it's not good for the body. It would still be better to lessen the pain in a natural way.

"We should go to see a doctor today." Madam Liu said softly and took Han Meixiu's hand. "It's better to have you check up as soon as possible."

"Okay." She answered and gave her a sheepish smile.

The two woman then separated as they prepared to embark to the nearby hospital.

When they met again, they headed to the study where the three men were having a discussion.

It was Madam Liu who entered first in the room.

"I will accompany Meixiu dear to the hospital. We might be back after lunch." She said looking at her husband then to her younger son.

"Hospital? Why?" Liu Zijian asked. Why was he not aware that his wife was sick? Originally he was looking at his mom when she entered. He didn't see Han Meixiu closely followed her behind. After his mom spoke he shifted his gaze to his wife before he asked her.

"Are you sick?" He said and slowly walked towards her.

"No, I'm not. It's just..." Han Meixiu looked around. It was kind of hard to explain the reason given the current situation where there were other men inside the room.

Madam Liu felt the silent plea of her daughter in law when the latter looked at her.

"It's a woman's thing. Don't worry. Later she can tell it to you." Madam Liu said as she patted the shoulder of her younger son.

"Bring the twins." Mr. Liu said. The twins were the most trusted subordinate of the head of the Liu Family. They're the most capable when it comes to protecting the two women.

Looking at the Second Young Master who was still in the middle of confusion, Liu Zilong spoke.

"It's fine, Little Zi. It's just like a normal check up."

Though Liu Zijian was still a bit hesitant to let his wife go without him, he nodded. She would be with their mom and the twins that saved the Liu siblings several times would be accompanying them. Both would definitely be safe.

"Come back as soon as possible." He seriously said as he hugged her.

"Yeah." Han Meixiu answered and returned his action.

The two seemingly forgot for a moment that they were not alone in the room.

"Oh, come on. That's enough. If you'll leave early you can also come back early, right?" Liu Zilong lightly said. He was trying not to tease his brother since their father was present.

Although Liu Zijian didn't pay attention to his brother, Han Meixiu became fully aware of what they just did. She retracted her arms and gently pushed Liu Zijian away to distance herself. She suddenly felt bashful.

"We should get going." She softly said.

"Mmm." He answered.

After the two women left with their father to instruct the twins, Liu Zilong couldn't stop himself anymore.

"Little Zi, tell me..."

"Aren't you just envious?" Liu Zijian said cutting off his brother's words as he casually went back to his table and took his phone to call someone.

"Huh?!?" The First Young Master was left dumbfounded. 'Is that man my little brother?' He asked himself.
