Diego- the Friend

Lillian felt bad, making Diego leave like that. She felt remorseful.

Throughout the whole incident, Anna quietly watched the two arguing, and when Diego left, Anna believed it was her time to comfort Lillian.

"You know he cares about us, Lilly," Anna told.

"I know," Lillian answered.

"He is the only guy closer with us other than our dads. So, he feels the need to protect us from anything bad. Remember when he used to advise us all the time during our high school beginning age. He would often say that there are guys who just wanted to play with us, and every single time Diego would come to help me when I got hit by one of such kind." Anna revealed.

She held Lillian's hands gently and continued.

"Diego helped me a lot when I got bothered by guys. Even I felt that he is meddling too much and I resented him whenever he would come in-between my dating life. But, it was during this one incident that when I dated this guy who urged me to come over one day because of his sickness. I went to care for him but only realized that he wanted to sleep with me. I felt trapped, and I didn't know whom to call. I couldn't call you because you would get angrier. And so, I just sent a text to Diego. Guess what?" Anna glanced at Lillian with teary eyes.

Lillian froze as she heard Anna sharing this past for the first time.

"Diego came within the next five minutes. I saw him out of breath and sweating all over. He came to rescue me from that guy. Later, he warned him to stay away from me. He walked me home and didn't even talk. I felt so bad for hating his actions before only to realize how much a good soul he is. I reached home, and he was about to say goodbye. Out of nowhere, I started crying out, and Diego got scared. He gently hugged me and comforted me."

By now, Anna's voice started shaking as it became Lillian's turn to comfort her. Anna regained herself from the painful past and continued talking.

"You know what he told me, Lilly?"

"He said that he would protect me until I die and wouldn't let anything bad happen to me ever again. And that he only wanted the best guy to cherish me forever. He said those words and I burst out crying more on his shoulder." Anna smiled while she said that.

Lillian gasped in awe.

She never knew this story.

"Why didn't you tell me this?" Lillian asked.

"It's because I felt like I don't want to trouble you or make you mad. Diego asked me to talk to you, but I told him to keep it as a secret from you. He respected my decision."

"From that day onwards, I let Diego handle those scumbags and eventually they feared to approach me." Anna laughed.

"He was like a brother to me, and I trusted his actions. However, with you, he never had that problem because you were a spunky kid. You were bold and strong, inside and the outside. So, he believed in you and that you won't get caught like me."

Lillian began to understand Anna's words.

"I am not asking you to tell him everything. I mean who am I to say all this when I hide it from you in the first place. It's just that I don't want you guys to fight over this. I'm sure Diego would have calmed down by now. And I only request you to go talk to him later, Lilly." Anna suggested.

"You don't have to tell. I am planning to do it nevertheless. I immediately felt worse the second, Diego walked away. I know he cares for me but this is the first time for me Anna, and I am disturbed by it. I need to figure out myself and this entire thing before speaking about it with you guys."

Lillian requested.

Anna agreed and smiled. The lunch bell rang, and they both left together.

The afternoon class is about to begin as everyone seated. Lillian hissed, calling Anna and Diego.

They both turned.

Diego looked sad, his face shrunk because of his actions. His eyes focused on the floor resisting facing Lillian.

"Diego, I'm sorry." Lillian apologized.

Diego's eyes traveled quickly to Lillian as he was about to apologize back to her. But, Lillian interrupted.

"Hold it, right there. About the thing today, let's meet after school. I want to tell you guys what happened. I need your help as you can see me changing math test into chemistry and dozing off in the middle of the class." Lillian giggled.

She tried to ease the awkwardness, and it worked.

"I can't save you from Mr. Seth." Diego reacted.

"Yes, I know that." Lillian vexed.

The afternoon class is about to start as the teacher entered.

"Anyways, we'll talk later today. Try to keep an eye on me from getting caught again." Lillian requested.

"Hell no!!!" Anna denied as she turned to face the class.

Meanwhile, Diego smiled at Lillian in agreement. Lillian smiled back at him warmly. They both passed over the little incident that happened today.

"Don't stare at Giselle again, Lilly. Just sleep if you are bored." Diego teased her before turning away. He didn't notice Lillian's flushed face as soon as she heard the girl's name.

Lillian glanced at Giselle's direction and saw her.

'Crap, doing it again. I can't get caught again.'

Lillian wanted to distract herself when Giselle accidentally looked back at Lillian and smiled brightly.

'I'm so going to get caught again.'

'Well, who cares?'

Lillian scoffed and turned away from the warming smile she has ever seen before; thinking that she needed help to get out of this weird feelings arousing inside her and fix her abnormal behaviors.
