The first resistance

Our first attack was going to be at bright day. We wanted people to know who we are. Not overtake, but change the capital. So at noon, we set out of our bakery-base, to reunite with the forces outside, including the elves.

The heir they send was.... Overwhelming. Completely irresponsible. Even if our warfare would be terrible we would still win, just by numbers.

We slowly march towards the cities walls, swinging our flag. The flag of the old empire, the flag of good times. At first, there was no reaction at all. Then a few minutes later, the ones who were informed gathered outside. My brother and my mother came out and joined the fight.

Our numbers were over one hundred fifty thousand, so the capital with around one hundred thousand inhabitants should be a pretty easy target. But unexpectedly, the king shows up.

Behind him, the courtmages.

He actually has lost his mind didn't he? Was what I thought at first, but the black streaks on his skin, such as the horn on his forehead told me otherwise. The courtmages were in that status too.

Demons. I feel a load of disgust coming up. Being controlled by a demon, as a king is a shame. No matter how low a country in the past centuries stooped, none of them asked demons for help.

Next to me, a blade appears. I read it and my smile returns. Oh, I think this might be a fun time.

The elven generals around me obviously saw aswell, as they laughed out loud and ordered to attack. As the force in the middle, I was directly opposed to the king - so the mages focussed me with their black magic. Plague magic, pain, corruption befall me.

My grin grows even bigger as Crucible of Pain appears. But demons don't feel pain. They do, if they are purified. I rush further in, right towards the king.

He stands there. Doesn't move doesn't flinch. Arrogant bastard, I think as I use the impulse of my horse to jump. I fly for a few seconds, until my eyes are directly across those of my father.

"You are a failure" I say, while I hit him with Cleansing of Disgust. The black streaks disappear and my father screams up. Who wouldn't if their arm is cut off by a sword...

I lose my feeling of pain - like the purified demons power would surge through me. I used Crucible of pain to cut my fathers other arm, but he instantly gets crushed by the amount of black mana my pain-pool releases. Damn, he didn't deserve such an easy death...

The courtmages begin to flee, but no one would let demons escape. The elves use their bow and arrows to hit them, but with their accuracy this wasn't fun to watch at all.

Two out of seven get hit in the throat and die - three get crushed by several arrows. Apparently there were some arrow specialists in the elven army.

The other two will have a hard time explaining things, as they only lost their horses. They fall onto the ground and cry. Damn, crybaby demons. The demon king would lose his mind if he saw those wimps. We take some of our soldiers to interrogate them, as they stay back while we further engage.

In the capital we got greeted by two pictures we didn't expect. First, all remaining inhabitants waved our flag and cheered. We won against the humans. The problem was, we didn't yet end the war at all. Above the capital was an entire fleet of demonic carriages.

The king didn't just ask the demons for help. He allied with them. This is going to be a tough war. We reported back to our messenger, so he could bring the message of the new reign over to others. Then again, we probably have war against demons now.

Demons, which have completely different classes of mages, then elves and humans had. How should we be supposed how to counter them?

Elves have runic, arcane and elemental magic.

Humans have elemental magic and reinforcement magic

and demons have... Well. Only specialist.

None of their magic is similar to one another. No similarity means no countertactics. The only thing we can hope for is lesser numbers, but as the ships above us suggest, we are down for a bad time.
