Pronounced like the bow in "bowing on stage", right? Not the bow in, bow and arrow.
Biology...women put on muscle and slower rates than men. And yes in a perfect society every village and county should train women as much as they train men, but that's not the culture of the world. The author even highlights that by showing how TQ is culturally different from the ppl born and raised in the Nine Prefectures. TQ doesn't want to have multiple wives and the only reason he planned to get married was for filial piety, he had no cultural need to get married young. But the Nine Prefecture world's setting is a patriarchal world. Anyway we're going in circles, I'm just trying to say the author is staying consistent with the world he created, which was inspired by the cultures of a real setting
Many other comments have already said something similar. But the ending was perfect, I didn't feel like anything was missing, rushed, or out of place. This ending was perfect because you built up Gravis's personality so well that this was obviously the way the story should end, it didn't clash with Garvis at all. Gravis kept growing and changing throughout the story but by the time he got to the highest world so much time had past that his personality was basically set and I loved that because when you're many 100s of 1000s of years old, why would your personality keep changing drastically. But when he was younger his personality did change as he learnt more about the world and his own goals/wishes. I also loved that all the cultivators were genuinely smart and didn't act like 12 yr olds when they were so old. No unnecessary face-slapping or wacko young masters. Bravo!
But they can't because on average women get stronger slower than men and are prioritized less in things like sect or clan inheritance. This is the author's world, you don't go into DC and argue that logically there's no way Batman should be able to kill Superman, but the story is written such that Batman does kill Superman
What's basic logic about that? There are thousands of settings and character types to choose from, the author chose one setting and stayed consistent with it throughout his story. That's the basics of writing, but you are complaining that the author didn't choose a different setting and write a different story. If he did that, it'd be a whole different novel
I think, Ah-ren Bower
the setting is a world like ancient china, if you want the author to just. write a different story, you can say that. But the setting of The Nine Cauldrons is a world like ancient China with superpowers
But even with the addition of super powers it doesn't change that ancient china was a patriarchal society, that focused their inheritance on their sons not the daughters
That's true, the author didn't really expand on that. You make a good point, like Yuan Lan and Teng Yongfan were born and raised in the Teng Clan and married each other, so she should be able to train and have no risks of leaking anything.
They both will be the tipping points, cause rn in combat ability Orthar and the Opposer are equal (slightly favoring Orthar because they're all inside his Cosmos). Time, however, is against the Opposer because the nature of his Cosmos is him constantly balancing between life and death and it requires one moment of exhaustion for him to fall into Death. So Gravis and Mortis are the Opposer's only chance to beating Orthar and freeing himself. But on the flip side, Gravis and Mortis are Orthar's keys to dealing with the Opposer and increasing his strength. But because this is all happening in Orthar's Cosmos, the second they start to fight Orthar can instantly kill Stella, the Myriad Sect, and the Economistress whenever he feels like it.
This man is the true embodiment of a calculating machine.
I know it's been a while since you commented on this but I wanted to respond. The author is writing a story set in an ancient Chinese setting, reflecting that times cultural values helps with the consistency of the story.
I'm guessing because it's a patrilineal society, women can be forced leak secrets back to their father's home and when married off can be forced to leak secrets in their husband's home. So both ways there is a risk because of how society is structured. Very unfortunate for women imo
